Lesson Learned
Appraently you cant take vehicles below crush depth, even if they are in the cyclops. Lesson learned. Sigh.

Yes that magic water that will crush it but not what’s around it!!!

I'm glad you posted this, it's something I didn't even know. You saved me from a horrible lesson

Weird that didn't happen to me but I was only 50m past the depth rnge so maybe it didn't crush as quickly.

So, say, if my seamoth can go 900M and I take my cyclops down to 1K with it docked, the seamoth will blow? From INSIDE the cyclops?? That's...not okay with me. Not okay for any reason at all. That really should be changed. The moment you get the vehicle out and expose it to the pressure (like a careless idiot?) Boom. That's fine. But inside the perfectly protected shell of a bigger sub? There's no logic at all to that, "video games" be damned.:steamsalty:

Sorry for your hard-earned lesson. I wouldn't have known this either, but I watched a lot of lets plays before I even got the game, so I picked it up from there. ^^'

This is really a thing?

I never had that problem carting my Prawn down to the PCF. Only started taking damage when I disembarked. Never bothered taking my Seamoth anywhere in the Cyclops though, so that might happen and I just wouldn't know it.
LoboFH Mar 4, 2018 @ 5:39pm
I don't think it happens with the Prawn suit, I carried it to Lava Zone inside the Cyclops to get the resources for its depth mod and it survived.

Weird, When I had my seamoth in my cyclops, way below the crushing depth (I didn't even realize it) and I wanted to get into my seamoth I had a warning message about my seamoth being below the safe depth...It didn't destroy my seamoth though
Splattergutz Mar 4, 2018 @ 6:19pm
You get a warning then the vehicle starts to crush. Usually you'll have heaps of time to raise it before total destruction. But there's always that one time when after a bone shark has chewed on your seamoth and has damage and you go a little too deep.

Vehicles within the cyclops are not effected by depth limits.

The game gives plenty of warnings. The numbers change color and audio warnings. I’m not sure how someone wouldn’t get the gist that something bad was going on.

never had that issue... had a seamoth at 800m with no upgrades.. i just didn't take the sucker outiside.... i used the extra cargo upgades for extra titanium to biuld a base on the lost river... so it sat there inside the cylcops a while i also upgraded my seamoth and prawn suit at 800meters while theye were docked inside, granted it didn't take long but they had no damage after removeing all depth mods

I lost 50 minutes of gameplay because I forgot to save and I lost way in River with my cyclops. Some Leviatans had fun and I saw for first time how is Cyclop exploding :D

Yeah, I took my Seamoth below its crush depth all the time in the Cyclops. It never took any damage, but I did get warnings if I tried to take it out. So, either you had a bug or something else was going on.
DeFragged Mar 4, 2018 @ 8:45pm
Vehicles docked in a Moonpool or Cyclops should NEVER take damage even when brought below crush depth. You WILL be told 'Warning: Vehicle is below crush depth!' before you board it, and if you ignore that warning then on your head be it.

I have docked a seamoth at a moonpool around 920m and it did not break while docked, but I do get the warning when I mouse-over the seamoth.

It may be a bug, can you reliably reproduce the effect?
