PRAWN suit needs 20 fragments?
Ran into this on a playthrough yesterday. Scanned all the PRAWN stuff in the Aurora and received the blueprint. Later in the game noticed I lost the blueprint and it was showing 0/20 scanned. Sent in a bug report. Started a new playthrough today and found some PRAWN suit fragments in a wreck. Scanned both of them and my PDA showed 2/20! Is the PRAWN supposed to take 20 fragments scanned in order to have the blueprint now? Wasn't that way in my first playthrough. These were the actual suit fragments and not any of the different arms.:steamsad:

If you don't want to read the description of this video I can do a summary.
This PDA unlocks the blueprint in a greyed state. It's an old unused counter. It doesn't prevent the Prawn Suit to be unlocked normally with the fragments in the Prawn Bay.

I'm locking this old thread.

It needs 4 fragments by default. Either you use some mode or something is really wrong with your game, maybe try reinstalling it.

theres 2 types of fragments, small frags that need 20 scanned, they look like arm frags. and large frags that only need 4, if you scan 1 of 20 then scan 4 of the big ones it will still count as getting the blueprint, its not one or the other.

from wrecks it will take 20 fragments, from the aurora it only takes 4. that is how it was designed

http://subnautica.wikia.com/wiki/Prawn_Suit

"Before the player can construct a Prawn Suit, they must first scan its fragments. Four large Prawn Suit fragments can be found in the Aurora's Prawn Bay, which each count for 25% of the blueprint. Many smaller Prawn Suit fragments can be found in various Wrecks, which each count for 5%."

I scanned the 4 fragments in the aurora but am only at 1/20

Whoah, what a revive rofl.

It's actually not even possible to unlock it with 20 small fragments. If you go to every single wreck before the Aurora and scan every fragment, you won't find 20.

I'm not really sure why those partial Prawn suit fragments even exist in the wrecks, to be honest. It just seems like it's more confusing to players than anything else.

NO!!! if you are scanning only small fragments, like the arms it will take 20 scans. otherwise if you can find the larger pieces... "there are 4 of the large suit fragments in the aurora. and if you scann big pieces only need... 4."

its a lot faster to take a seamoth with 4 containers and go collect scrap around the aurora. FAR faster.

OK. A little clarification that I have gleaned from corresponding with various old hand EA veterans, and with Ignis.

To reach 100% of the PRAWN Suit blueprint you can theoretically scan torso fragments and/or claw arm fragments. Torso fragments count as 25% of the blueprint, claw arm fragments count as 5% of the blueprint.

So, yes, theoretically you could do 20 scans of claw arm fragments to complete the blueprint. But see below...

The stacking of the percentages accumulated has been bugged apparently since introduction of the PRAWN Suit in EA. The 5% increments from claw arms will not stack with the 25% increments from torsos.

Since there are only 3 torso fragments scattered among various wrecks, and, I think, 7 to 9 claw arm fragments in the wild, the failure to stack means that you can never complete the PRAWN Suit blueprint from the bits you can find outside the Aurora.

However, the player community rarely even notices this issue, because the character can always find 4 or 5 torso fragments in the Aurora PRAWN Suit Bay, which he MUST pass through while exploring the Aurora.
(I have always found 5, during half a dozen explorations of the Aurora, but others insist that they have only found 4.)

Alternative PRAWN arm type fragments (torpedo arms, grapple arms, drill arms, propulsion cannon arms) DO NOT contribute to the PRAWN Suit blueprint. Only the claw arm fragments contribute to the Suit blueprint. The claw arms are the default arm type on the completed PRAWN. Other arm type fragments ONLY contribute to their own blueprint.

Ignis once responded to me that the dev team is aware of the stacking problem, but it has a very low priority for a fix...because very few people ever notice/report it, and there has always been a perfectly fine route to the PRAWN Suit blueprint. Which most players use quite early in a playthrough.

It was actually fixed in experimental, claw fragments are just deco now. You can't scan them.

Thanks, Ignis.

A shame really. I for one would find it intriguing for there to be a viable, if labor and exploration intensive, alternative route to the PRAWN Suit blueprint without going to the Aurora.

(Of course, since you have to go into the Mountain biome for one of the existing wreck torso fragments, that pretty much cancels any benefit from avoiding the Aurora any longer than that. Since the Aurora and that location are both triggers for the same...er... minor undesirable status change.)

Thanks for that.
Saves new players some confusion.
