Connecting Rooms?
I built a General Purpose Room, but try as I might I can't seem to connect it to another room. If I but another general purpose above it, the game won't let me place a ladder on the pad to connect them. If I try running a corridor, the game won't let me connect to that either. Vertical corridors don't work either. Is there something I'm missing?

Stack the multipurpose rooms together Without legs sticking out from the top room. Then ladder.

Like was said above, you need to place them closer together, like pictured.

I found it pretty random when rooms would snap together and when they wouldn't. I found you often wouldn't need to place then where they would actually connect. If they are close, and green, the game will connect the rooms together when you actually build it.

What I saw in someone's pic was an observatory with its side connected directly to the side of a mutipurpose room . .but try as I might, I can't get that to happen. - a connecting tube is created or needed.

Remember that rooms/corridors can only be mounted on 4 of the sides of a multipupose room, you can mount hatches just about any place. I have yet to mount a vertical corridor to the top of a multi. room, not sure you even can. The moonpool seems to only fit one way, I can't seem to be able to turn it.

Yeh, that's normal with the moonpool, annoying, but normal. We've been wanting that to change for a while now.

Depends on how much room there is below and above the Multi-room to get the Observatory to directly connect. If the Multi-room is on a platform it more than likely has one corner hanging off the platform. Try that side.

It's the way it attaches - I can get it to attach with a connecting piece that appears, but not wall to wall.

Plenty of room above and below.

Those are the only two options I get. Nothing inbetween.

Most rooms require a LOT of space between them to connect. Make sure they're aligned vertically AND horizontally, then move the room away until the corridor appears.

The Green is the direct connect option. It can't get any closer than that.
One of Mine.

So what am I seeing in the other pic from someone else's base?

Is it just the angle hiding the connecting piece?

It's the angle. If you look closely you can see the short corridor inside.

Are you talking about how you cant rotate the moonpool so that your Seamoth is docked so that when it drops it is facing a certain direction?

I read about that a few days ago and it had something to do with the direction you first face when you lay down your first base piece. That usually ends up being a multipurpose room since its pretty common to get it before the moonpool if you are following the story and beacons. But anyways i read about a trick to getting the moonpool facing the way you want. The key is to lay down the moonpool first to check the orientation relative to the surrounding area. If it is facing the way you want then you build your base around the moonpool. Instead of adding the moonpool into your base and finding out that it is rotated the wrong way.

In the pic below is how i have my most recent base setup. First thing i did was about 50+ meters behind where those structures are now i made a temporary base. It was 1 multipurpose room, a bunch of standing lockers, an indoor growbed and an outdoor growbed on a foundation and a single solar panel an a radio and fabricator. It was far enough away so that when i started building the main base (the one pictured) they wouldnt interfere with each other. The second picture i drew in the approximate location of the temp base which i've now deconstructed. I started building the main base right next to it starting with one moonpool. Once it was in the right spot i build the adjacent moonpool. Then after that the multipurpose rooms and everything else. The moonpool is rotated exactly how i want it with the Seamoth facing outwards into the deep water.
