Launching a rocket while you know there's a big gun that will blow you up isn't a "bad ending", it's just stupid. And more than a little suicidal with how often the game goes out of its way to let you know there's a large gun on the planet that likes to shoot at space ships.
Why even play the game then, if you don't have a choice?
That's what's fun about open-world games is the option to make choices and take different paths, and explore all the different outcomes. It's replayability.
If all you can do is play the way one person dictates, it's not a game, but a glorified power-point slideshow.
Fun is fun, and awhurley already beat me to the in game lore explanation.
Even if the destination is always the same that doesn't mean the journey to get there has to be always the same.
That's replayability.
"it's just stupid" thats your opinion tho. Some of us would love to launch our ship and get shot down as a hilarious ending. It's a shame they dont allow that

Or more like the dog ending of Silent Hill 2?

Hard to decide, but I like how a horror game doesn't take itself too serious by allowing such ridiculous easter eggs. ^^
I wouldn't mind having a braindead ending in Subnautica, but I surely don't need it.
Ah well, you are necroing the thread at least one year later. XD
Correct. But your opinion is that the ending is fine as it is and we just want a simple Easter egg ending. It’s not game ruining so idk why someone would have such a strong opinion opposed to this idea in the first place.
