I honestly forget if you can take back mods from a destroyed cyclops, or much of anything that was inside a UI container. It will take any docked seamoths/prawns with it though.
I'm gonna leave my Cyclops in 3rd gear, for science.
EDIT: So, I don't know if it lasts. But immedialy swimming into the rear of my destroyed cyclops.
Modules, still in the console.
Lockers, still have their stuff.
Decoy tube: still stocked.
Power cells in the engine: Recoverable, but all drained down to Zero because **** you I guess.
Regular battery charger: Still as charged as you left them. (I didn't make power cell chargers)
Planters. Empty.
also save often
So, instead of run away with seaglide, hit him in the face with repulsion cannon, he will fly out of aggro range or reset patrols pattern.
You can also push crabsquids, but due to its size, you may need to close the distance more than once to push it further away from your course.
If you are piloting carefully, you shouldn't have to worry about total destruction, even from a Reaper, as they will let go of a vessel after dealing something like 60 damage, and as long as you have your bearings, you should be able to get away.
Once you have the Perimeter Defense (Seamoth) and one of the defensive options for the PRAWN (drill, repulsion cannon, torpedo tube) your chances of surviving an attack hit almost 100%.
