Water filtering machine question
My base zero depth.. Depth installation depends on productivity water filtration machine? Because in next two days it is produce several procent of drink water. It is OK or not?

The water filtration machine needs to be underwater for it to work correctly, and efficiently
(that means in a submerged multipurpose room)

Efficiency is tied to depth machine is at.

So at 0m = 1/8 of prioduction and no salt production.

I suspect this! Can i run down to depth build pipes from surface to near underwater? (I cant run game right now and test myself)

Judging from what you say there, you want your main base somewhere near the surface, and have the water filter machine separately sonwhere deep, and you can do that, by using a "Power Transmitter" to power your separate room http://subnautica.wikia.com/wiki/Power_Transmitter
Simply link the 2 rooms with transmitters.

But I advice you NOT to do this because:

You will want to build your main base somwhere underwater, simply because you'll wan to use thermal plants to power up your base.

Water filtration machine will constantly use your power as long as the room is powered up, you do not want this machine to be your main water supplier, rather, have it supplement your inventory, simply because it takes a long time to make the water bottles, but they are a very nice addition for long exploration because of the 50+ H2O.

Machine also produces salt, from which you can make bleach and Disinfected Water
The author of this topic has marked a post as the answer to their question.

I do not try use thermal energy because i build nuclear reactor. And some question bother me. It is unlimit energy or not. And i need make new green nuke battery?

I will try power transmitter or build corridor-pipes to depth. (I build base on start location on shallow water, because i bother about breath machine. I dont know i need it or not. On surface i calm about air)

I have a weater filtration machine at 10m and another at 900m and don't see any difference between the production speed.

Thanks a lot man!

Nuclear reactors provide the best energy in the game, but, you will need to occasionally go out and get Uranite to make fuel rods. Also, make sure you have the radioactive disposal thingie to permanently get rid of spent fuel rods or you will have to throw them somewhere. I don't use Nuclear power, so I don't know if they leak radiation or not (although I do know you need to wear a radiation suit while handling them). I have never used Nuclear power because once you get the Thermal Plants set up, you can pretty much forget about them, it just restricts base location to near thermal areas.

Which normally it's a matter of making a base 20m away from your original location just so that you are close to a vent, pretty much regardless of biome.

Or use Power Transmitters to get the power to you.
I have my current main Base in -100m in the grassy plateau with 2 thermal reactors down the crater nearest to the escape pod (con: almost cooked myself to death on a hardcore run) and some transmitters to get the power where it's needed. Add a bunch of solar panels atop the highest habitats and I'm properly set for the moment and could easily repeat if some upgrade is needed.

Does having multiple thermal reactors improve the energy generation or increase the energy cap?

I once built 2 thermal generators, the energy cap did not increase, but I didn't look if I get energy faster

I know it increases the cap, I had 1 and it was 250, I built a second and connected with power transmitter and it jumped to 500. However, I think if the base power is above 250, then only one would be actually generating, but if it falls below 250, then they both would until it gets back to 250, then one would drop out. That is how it seemed to work as well when I had solar panel/bioreactor early game. The Bio charged to 500 (the amount a bioreactor provides), but power wouldn't go above that unless it was daylight, then the solar panel would charge to max (I think it was 550, so the solar panel was providing 50 power and would take care of charging from 500 to 550.

I see, I didn't build a power transmitter, so maybe that is why it didn't seem to do anything, thanks

There should be a thin blue line that runs from the thermal plant to it's connection point if it has one.
