Do you mean looking up or down when "on foot"? If so then I'm jealous, I could never do that with an XBox 360 controller, only left and right, both a year ago and in 1.0. Only in a seamoth does the Y axis work, to pitch up and down, but as soon as I get out I am left with a stiff neck.

Funny, I have been using a xbox-360 controller since (idk, precursor update maybe?) and it has always worked perfectly

Wait, you mean that when just walking or swimming around, outside any vehicle, the right thumb stick lets you rotate the view left-right, and ALSO up-down? On an MS XBox 360 controller? Darn it, I thought it was on purpose. I'll try deleting my options.bin file as soon as I get back home.

Well actually its an ps3 controller, but Im using a software which virtually transforms it into a xbox-360 controller with the 360-drivers and all.

I've tried it and it seems to work for up-down in 2D mode, which I barely played and only with mouse and keyboard, but not in VR unfortunately. I had high hopes for a few hours, but deleting the options.bin file did not help.

yes, my ps4 controller controlled everything. just not since the full release. Ive tried using programs like ds4, imputmapper, and xpatter (might be spelled wrong). But since the full release it launches in steam big screen mode wich i primariy use to.

I never had the up-down view rotation working in VR when on foot, only as a pitch control in the Seamoth. Then I tried the gaze-based cursor setting, and boom, I lost the up-down rotation in the Seamoth as well. What I did then is copy back a backup I had of the options.bin file I made some time before and that fixed it.

Long story short you may want to try restoring a copy of the "Steam\steamapps\common\Subnautica\SNAppData\SavedGames\options\options.bin" file if you have one, or just delete it, the game creates a new one at launch.

a bit late to this discussion, but you do know that there is a slidebar for the vertical axis that is set to 0?

Try running joy.cpl and check you don't have any virtual devices in the list. Check on YouTube if you're not sure how to remove virtual devices safety

just get an xbone controller for PC, works with all controller friendly games and you don't have to use third party software
