Scanner room problem
I am building my permanent base in the mushroom forest and I want to scan for cyclops fragments. All I need is one more engine fragment. There is a cyclops hull fragment right on the tree that the scanner room is built on. Is there a reason why it won't let me set it to scan for fragments. I already gave it a speed and range upgrade.

i dont think the scanner room searches for fragments... unless im wrong, its just ores, fauna, flora, and salvaged metal...

It does scan for fragments. It tends to bug and items don't appear or even disappear from the list, but sometimes interacting with the thing that disappeared from the list makes it appear again. In this case, try scanning the hull fragment that you mentioned, it make make fragments appear on the list.

ok thanks. I was thinking that maybe it couldn't locate any fragment because none of them are new. It might only locate them in they will halp with a blueprint.

Scanner room is a bit wonky as it can`t scan world "chunks" that were not loaded in the current game session - so if you just start the game again it will have a very short list of items near your base.
After you swim around and load some chunks, the list will expand.

Also, it only finds fragments that you need(if you already finished cyclops hull it`s fragments will not show up)

still no fragments but im not sure if there are any new fragments in the area so it still may not detect fragments for blueprints you already have.

It definitely does not detect things you already have. Just checked in my game. Detected led light part I was missing, but not seamoth\grav trap fragments near it.

I noticed that when you scan for fragments the circle used to mark them disappears when you get near the part. There's also been instances where something will appear and if I leave the game and reload it won't be there any more. If I were you I'd try relocating the scanner room if possible.

i figured it out. Like people have said, it won't detect any fragments for a blueprint you already have. I found the negine fragments at the floating Islands so im fine.
