Kyanite is a catch 22

I've only been able to find it at about 1300M but my Prawn CANNOT be upgraded past 900 until i get Kyanite! I've been to both inactive lava zones and only found 1 kyanite that was too deep to reach.

I haven't looked since full release, but you used to be able to find Kyanite along the outer edge of the Sparse Reef where it drops into the Void. It's easily reachable with a Seamoth or Prawn, it's well above 900m.

The Prawn Suit Depth Module MK1 does not requirer Kyanite and upgrades the Prawn to 1300 meters. It is built via the Vehicle Upgrade Station and takes 1 x platesteel, 3 x nickle ore and 1 x aerogel.

The Mk2 takes Kyanite which you can get with Mk1

Fear not! You can build the MK1 depth module without Kyanite, bringing your depth max to 1300m

Nonsense. The Prawn suit has 2 depth modules, the MK 1 will increase its crush depth to 1300 the mk 2 will increase it to 1700. Only the Mk 2 needs kyanite. Build the MK 1 and then go farm kyanite in the inactive lava zone.

yeah they never did figure out a way to make the radio matter after the first few hours of play. once all the pods come in. unless there is some end game use of it which i have not gotten to yet...
