I didn't know about bleach, and I was slow... scared... and hung around the safe shallows for ages and ages.. catching bladderfish for water and peepers for food. Little did I know - fish don't respawn. I farmed the safe shallows to extinction.
Now I know about salt and coral, and make sure not to overfish the starting area at the beginning...
I *believe* there's some kind of 'hack' - to do with respawning stuff by deleting come cache files in your savegame, that might bring them back. But if you're not too far in? You might just wanna start over and get yourself some salt/bleach which produces a much better source of water than bladderfish do.
Also? If I may stray a little - don't pick up all the scrap metal remains that are lying around. You can find tons of titanium either by duplicate scanning blueprints, or from the breakable outcroppings. Scrap metal bits distract the stalkers and also cause them to drop teeth - both very useful things in/around your starting area.
Ain't done it myself... just read about it...
