Cyclops power consumption
I am a long term subnautica player, but recently i lost my old account with subnautica along with it. my friend gave me a way to play it and i did. This was never an issue: the cyclops consumes A TON of energy... especially when left alone, i read on the forums that the lights don't do anything so why is a brand new cyclops left for and hour or so alone, uses ALL the power that it has? This is either a bug or I'm just not doing something right, please tell me a way to get rid of this. Also, i watched jacksepticeye play and he had a really similar problem, just i don't have any chargers or fabricators, hell i don't even put my prawn or seamoth in the cyclops. Please help, sorry i don't know whitch section of discuttions this belongs in

silent running mode consumes lots of power even when not moving

1 - Do you have the Energy Efficiency Module?
2 - Are you trying to charge Power Cells in it? (This was patched and does not work anymore)
3 - are you leaving the Engine Running whilst away?
4 - are you leaving it in silent running mode?

I don't have this problem at all, if my Cyclops is on 100% and I go away, I come back and it's on 100%.

The Cyclops loosing power even if you had nothing on. With the efficency module it is less, but you can test it by using 6 100% charged cells and turn everything off. Come back after a few minutes. The HUD tells you that you have 100% but if you check the cells, at least one isnt fully charged anymore. Dont get my wrong, i dont care about one cell loosing 5% energie, i only want to know why my cyclops eating enegie.

Consuming energy to remain in place within the water, rather than sinking, floating or being carried off by the currents, keeping the air circulated and the air pressure at an appropriate level.. Pretty sure the sensors keep running when noones in it, probably some other things that arent immediately coming to mind. :D

yeah thanks, it was probably since i left it at silent running mode whili i went out for an hour to the lsot river with my prawn suit, i was in a dangerousa area with a unlimited amount of crab squids so i thought i'd leave it ^^' when i came back i spent an hour trying to get the prawn suit into the cyclops but it was jsujt not working ^^.. after an hour i just went in and got greeted by a powerless cyclops :D ended up spawning in power cells just since i thought it was a bug ^^ and yeah thanks!

The only problem is that seamoth doesn't do shenanigans like this. Let's called it for what it is: unfinished game.

I just left my Cyclops in place for 2 hours while going back and forth between Sparse Reef and Lost River in my Moth, and I didn't lose power. I left it with engine off and no batteries in my charger.

I think we can comfortably call user error, on this "bug"

The seamoth doesnt have sensors, is small enough that little to no power could keep it stable in the water, doesnt need to cycle air, in all likelihood is not pressurized (IE: The cockpit is full of water, and your tank hooks up to the air supply when you get in)... So basically only staying in the same location would consume any power, and the devs may have decided against putting it on the seamoth since it has a small battery life as it is. Things can be development choices too, Not just unfinishedness :)

you could have taken a power cell out of your prawn (it has 2), and got onboard, thermal reactor mods are your friends!

Yeah, that got me yesterday, there i was just chilling in my cyclops going through all the degasi/lifepod logs and before i know it... "30 seconds" *panic*

I found my spare power cell downstairs, rushed back up and replaced a dead one while the screen was turning black.... another 2 seconds and i would of been dead haha.

Learned the hard way that silent running or leaving the engine on drains it fast...

I didn't even know cyclops drain power so fast when i was in lava zone.
I was lucky to stumble upon the time capsule with 6 ion power cells 1k power each :D
There is a note inside titled "a message from prerelease" from Acituanbus.
I was suspicious to use them, didn't know if you can recharge them.Funny thing,as far as i saw charging that 1k and ordinary 200 cell take same amount of time.
I am having a problem to, I will turn everything off and go to my power cells in the cyclops and just watch their power drop, the engine is off and silent running is off. idk whut to do, this is getting annoying i have to engine efficiency modules in it, and even rn, as I type this I have gone through 2 powercells. and everything is off

panda- maybe you're charging a prawn suit or a seamoth?

I JUST FOUND OUT!
The reason your power drains near the lava is because of the parasitic bugs that cling to the hull of your Cyclops. If you read their entry in the codex is says they live on power.
You can remove them with a knife but they will return quickly
Zeoran Feb 25, 2018 @ 8:41pm
The Cyclops will not lose power if the engine is off and you aren't doing anything like fabricating or it's charging a Prawn/Seamoth in the bay. HOWEVER, you need to be careful if you're near the inactive lava zone since there are tons of those stupid lava larvae eeches that will latch onto your hull and drain your ship dry. There are two ways to deal with them. If you are currently driving the Cyclops and they cling onto your ship, you can zap them off by cycling your shields. If you plan on going out and exploring or drilling in your Prawn, etc, then the best solution I found is to simply remove all the power cells before you depart. They can't suck energy off something that doesn't have any! You'll have to be quick while inside since without power, the Cyclops won't generate oxygen but you can still launch the Prawn/Seamoth from the bay after you remove the cells (although you can't re-dock until you put the power cells back in). I used this technique a while ago when I was mining for Kyanite and it worked perfectly. You also need to be aware that they can and will sometimes attach to your Prawn while you're out and about. You'll hear a little screachy type noise if they do and you can just hop out real quick and knife them 3 times and kill them. If you're driving the Cyclops at full normal speed, you don't need to worry because you're going so fast youl'll smash the little bastards against the hull. (still not sure why such small fish make such a loud noise though)
