Base foundation....please help?
Hola, i just bought the game last night, and im really impressed. The world looks magical and so pretty and i had loads of fun exploring! So far so good...until i decided to start building my first base. It goes wrong at the very first piece: no matter what i do or try, the foundation will NOT go on the floor, it only wants to float. I do NOT want a floating base, i want one that sits on the bottom of the ocean. It only makes sense to have it on a somewhat flat surface, but nope...it floats, and when i move down it only moves my toon down, with the piece of foundation still floating above me. I spent literally 2 hours now just trying to fit one single piece of foundation on the floor. Am i missing something or is this really the most painful building experience i ever had in a crafting game?

all the base section are elevated to prevent terrain clipping
after you place them they will get legs but the flatter the area the closer to the ground it should be

foundations arent needed per say but they do make things a little more pleasing to the eye

you also don't need the foundation to build a base, it just adds to the base's health

Cheers, thanks so much! Im an idiot who didnt realize it would grow legs once finished xD Its still very long legs and nothing like ive seen in the youtube vids (they seem to be able to place it WAY closer to the floor for some reason)... but it'll do for now!

All sections you build contribute or reduce the total amount of health, applying foundation or reinforcements increase it while deploying more reduces it.

Its not as complicated as you think just applying one reinforcement to a wall increase the total health by like 7 which is like 6 more things you can build and just making one reactor room with one entrance and 7 reinforcement would give you a surplus of 47.8 strength to play with, not accounting the bonus you get from starting off a construction

You can apply reinforcement to pretty much any wall aslong as nothing blocks it or something else covers it, Like a normal pipe can have 2 reinforcement on the sides just doing those sometimes can give you the hull strength boost you need to not get any leaks

there is also the option of building a bulkhead to seal of the area which you just built keeping the other locations safe from it.

yeah, you used to be able to put it much lower to the ground, they probably did this distance to help avoid any clipping issues

And yeah it builds pipes down to the ocean floor which holds up the building themself. it looked silly at first but made sense when i built my first piece later on

the legs actually look amazing now compaired to how they would tend to act the last time i played

You used to be able to move the terrain but it caused alot of bugs and frame rate issues so they removed that all together making the terrain more static, but you can still find those bugs sometimes like items digging into the ground(mostly stalker teeths)
