Freedom Mode is for idiots
From what I read in the forum, this is basic.
Subnautica experts, survival masters and holders of absolute truth, totally agree on this point: if you want to play this game as it is intended, if you want to have the right to live amongst men, then you have to face hunger and thirst, and do it every 5 minutes.
Because, let be honest, life is a chore. You don't have Freedom Mode in real life : you don't eat and drink, you die. Following this line of thinking, Subnautica masters have estabilished that survival videogames must be played in the same way of real life. Exploring wonderful abysses without the chore of keeping constantly low hunger and thirst levels, is not allowed, at least if you want to mantain your dignity as a human being.
Now, you could ask yourself why the ♥♥♥♥ a Freedom Mode (aka supereasy Mode) has been implemented in the game. The answer is simple : developers want to test your will and your skill to understand gaming nature.
If you believe the goal of playing games is having fun without nuisances, you are totally wrong.
This is a statement valid for this survival game as for others. The true player can't accept pleasure and happiness without pain. You play a game, you choose the high difficulty settings.
Don't do that, and you are a ♥♥♥♥♥. And Subnautica masters will point their finger to you.

That's the same reason why you don't have real guns in this game, if you think about it.
Otherwise playing would have been too easy, and for some spineless idiots out there, even funny.

P.S : this little phamplet doesn't want to start a debate, only test your reading skill.

You... Do realize subnautica has one of the most forgiving food models of any game, right? If you spent the years watching and playing with the development in a way that MATTERED, you've have the self awareness to realize that.

The only hard part is it playing coy with getting started. Then it's just babysitting a timer, which can get old as the game goes on. "Hold on, I need to park my submarine to stop and drink my own reproccessed urine or snack on some melons. Well, that sure was hardcore."

People like you are why we have infinite aquatiums full of fish worth +44 food, but guys pat themselves on the back for getting lanternfruits nerfed because "But you don't need to cook or replant it! Look how hardcore I am!"

You don't care for balance, or even gameplay. So much as wanting the quickest, laziest way to say "Well, I'm better at videogames than you because I'm willing to put up with something you aren't".

hunger and thirst make things just longer its nothing about harder or easier ,its just more time consuming and more repeatitive grind...

It all blurs together, to be fair.

I've made joke suggestions like "It would be great if there was a random chance for our space ships to explode" trying to make fun of such concepts, and instead you get people saying it's a great idean and making suggestions on how to make it even worse.

See also: When I talked about how patched the Cyclops set itself on fire for going fast. My friends thought I was making things up.

Well, sometimes jokes can be pretty hard to discern with written text alone without the telling signs of spoken speech so I can imagine everyone online has at some point has got into a spat because they missed a joke or made a joke nobody understood.
You're completly right!

But I tell you that I mostly used freedom mode and the console to translate the game into German!
Only freedom mode gave me any item to read the text inGame, and if wrong, to correct it!

But playing the game should be done in survival!

Oh, but please let everyone choose how he/she wants to play! That is freedom!

.....Who hurt you sweet thing? Did someone call you an idiot for using freedom?

That would be odd considering most of the game is optional and devs kind of stuck with that ideal when making the game modes. They didn’t want players to feel constricted to certain standards. Most “veteran” players know and understand this. Hmmmm

Survivor and heartcore are a joke on this game. They are an annoyance. Its to easy and shouldnt be classified as a difficulty level for starters.

Why would you even think freedom mode is for idiots?

Survival mode is for a more challenging mode so you waste more time to get more hours of game play. I only skipped the easier modes as I would have finished in 24-hours instead of the 200-hours in survival mode. And I did that with a beeline to the end. So I missed a great deal of stuff and got easily another 200 hours the second time through.

The game has different modes for different play styles. It is poor form for you to even suggest easy modes are for idiots. Only an idiot would make such an assumption or inference.

Bait is for fish, not people.
Although it was entertaining to read, gotta give you that.

It's incredible that not even the people who necroed this thread realized the OP was being sarcastic. There was even a hint to their sarcasm at the end of the post.

Instead of writing "the people" you could have quoted me.

Well, a lesson for you : the written form of communication do not include hints of sarcasm except if there are smileys, emojis or if you know the writer.

It is always the same think, when someone discriminate others, there is always somebody else to defend him/her saying it was sarcasm....

sarcasm translates very poorly over text, which is why markers like "/j" and "/s" have started to come into use on some platforms. that hint at the end is the only indication of sarcasm i could find in the post, and it clearly doesn't work very well.

You sound defensive, if what I said irritated you then know it wasn't my intention. Having said that, I believe you haven't read the entire thread before responding. What leads me to believe as much is:

1 - I pointed out to another user that the OP was being sarcastic, which you seem to have missed;

2 - I pretty much said that I myself almost got fooled by the OP's sarcasm. And I have also said the same thing you have, that it was because sarcasm is hard to notice in written text. A post you seem to have also missed.

Agree with you on that. But try reading again with the knowledge that the OP is being sarcastic and maybe you'll notice more sarcasm in their tone.
