Flares last forever?
I deployed 2 hand held flares I found in a wreck hours ago, recently past by and they're still going!

My flare disappeared under the the ground and It's been about 2 hrs real time couple of days game time and is still glowing. I'm unable to retrieve it because it sunk underground somehow.

They burn out eventually, but do last a good long time. I dumped a ton right under my lifepod when I realized I'd probably never use them. I don't know why I lit them. For a while it was like living on the surface of the sun.

HAHAHA!! OK sorry, but that's a sight to see! Thank goodness I only have 1 flare clipped under ground exactly under me. I'll just ride it out but man I can't imagine your experiance.

Flares last a lot longer than they ever used to, that's for bloody sure. Lol.

thea last a ridiculous long time, you can also pick them up again and carry them around as a light source ...

I think they are bugged. In my last playthrough which took me about 40 hours, I used a flare in the very beginning at life pod 6 and in the end after 40 hours this flare was still burning. That definitely can't be intentional that they burn infinitely.

Haha, it's a pretty neat bug.. I threw one down in the Jeelyshroom caves that have been burning for about 50 in-game hours now xD

Sounds like a nice thing to use to mark wrecks already explored.

That's a neat idea, I'm gonna do that since I just started a new game.

Exactly what I was thinking, I already thought about this idea in the past but threw it away because flares are supposed to turn off after a while.
If they last forever I'll take it though, hoping it never gets fixed.

They don't always last that long. Mine all burned out after a few hours. If you want to leave a permanent reliable marker you're better off with a beacon, floating locker, etc.

To be fair, if they're lasting over 50 hours, that's plenty forever enough.

They don't last forever. My estimate around 2 hours irl time. I thought the same when I first started I had one below the lifepod and it just wouldn't go away, it did eventually though. For marking already searched wrecks just place some form of structure that costs like 2 titanium.

My flare lasting over 40 hours for a full playthrough and another guys flare lasting for over 50 hours says otherwise. They might not be completely bugged though, so maybe some do burn out as they are supposed to. But there is definitely a bug which causes at least some flares to burn indefinitely. I only used 1 flare in that playthrough so I can't really say on if that occurs with every other flare as well.
