early on you'll get a distress signal & there is a cave nearby with a bunch.

It's in sandstone which looks round and smooth. Check the areas with lots of green or red plants. This game has a lot of annoying grinding in it, so watch out.

Look for sandstone crops, they look like limestone crops but a bit darker and grow in caves in the shallow area or just on terrain in several other biomes.

Silver is found in the dark brown, round Sandstone deposits together with Lead and Gold.

Sandstone is easiest to find in the Grassy Plateaus (big sandy areas with red grass) where it's found on the pillars and edges of caves.

It can also be found in some of the deeper caves in the starting area. Just watch out for Crashfish!

Good luck!

Go to the area with the fields of red grass on the bottom. Watch out for the nasties that swim there. There should be quite a bit of silver and gold over there.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you can build a scanner room fairly early in the game. When you scan for mnerals scan for the rocks they're in: sandstone, limestone, shale. It's much easier to find these than it is raw minerals. Also scan EVEYTHING with your hand scanner. You can go to your PDA to see which mineral is inside each rock. This is useful in case you forget.

Difficult to find? No. I agree that it will take some time but it's not difficult to find.
The caves in the kelp biome have tons of it.

Indeed. Watch out for the little red 'jerks' that want to commit suicide in your face. I forget what those little monsters are called but I hate them.

Biters. When Sandstone farming the Grassy plains it's wise to keep your Seaglide equipped and work quickly so they're not constantly biting your a$$.

Your idea of a reasonable amount of time to find something is probably a bit different than you should expect his to be. "Taking time" and "difficult to find" are also far from exclusive.

And which of them would you consider to be hard to find?

He's referring to Crashfish. The ones that literally blow up in the your face.

Biters don't commit suicide.

once you make it suuuuuper far down you find giant silver deposits. believe me if everybody saw my cyclops before I just finished the game. it was uhhhh maybe a bit much. I packed the whole inside with like 50 storage cases, all the buildable such as modification station and food supply. everything packed with ♥♥♥♥ tons of every single resource (enough to build everything)
