Yeah no they're deep enough that I can tell they aren't just sitting right below the surface but it's impossible to tell if they're a few meters down, maybe in some cave I didn't find, or 200 meters down in the abyss.
I'm not sure exactly what causes this to happen, but it still isn't fixed in the latest experimental build.
It still isnt fixed today
A couple of pieces of scrap dropped in one of the open-ish areas at the bottom of a Kelp Forest narrow canyon is a good scene. A grav trap in the vicinity would enhance things, capturing both the teeth and the scrap as it gets tossed up and down by the locals.
BTW, one of the funniest things I've ever seen in Subnautica was a Stalker, determined to run off with a camera, when there was a Grav Trap right under the Scanner Room.
Stalker grabbed the camera, Grav Trap grabbed the camera AND the Stalker, and about 6 other fish and bits and pieces.
I ran across the Stalker while returning to base in my SM. It was swimming for all it was worth in open water, holding the camera, dragging the Grav Trap and this string of fish, etc, and making forward progress of about 10cm for every 2 or 3 tail strokes. It was like the whole train of stuff was in slow motion.
Give this fix a try:
