Final release - can you save the Sunbeam?
Don't get me wrong, I love the tragedy of the well-meaning Sunbeam. But I also love speed-runs and divergent paths. Does anyone know if this is possible in the final build?

Saving it in a way, yes. Speed runs and divergent paths, no.

You can "save" it, but it never lands. It gets obstructed by debris from the Aurora and leaves.

I'm gonna let that ship explode because that's the original story and I'm sticking with it.

That's really sad, I thought that would be a special ending for people who are like, experts on the game. I think it would be a little difficult to do all the stuff necessary to disable the gun but maybe that's just me :') RIP guys, I feel bad for the Sunbeam people.

I actually posted about this before, asking it to be implemented. It got a lot of hate and backlash, but the developers confirmed it would happen one way or another. Whether it is saved or destroyed by other means, it is a different path if you disable the gun first. People failed to realize, not only is it entirely possible to disable the gun before the Sunbeam arrives, it's not even that far from the main story path. The activation of the Sunbeam event is through the communicator. If you never use it (Which I even forgot to do through a playthrough), the Sunbeam will never show up.

Oh, I forgot you could delay the ship arrival. *Facepalm. It sucks that people are rude to others just for an opinion... but it's nice that something will be added to the game for people who do manage to disable it beforehand! It'd be cool if it gets destroyed by something else and you can explore another giant ship like the Aurora, haha. I feel bad for saying that, though. :')

I believe you're wrong. I believe the devs put in an auto trigger for the SunBeam and when it gets close enough you get a message through your PDA or something that says they're coming in for a landing. Whether you disabled the gun or not.

The delay by not using coms was removed. Now sunbeams arrives no matters if you use radio or not.

Really? I have been watching Jacksepticeye play the full release... And I'm sure the timer only started after he started listening to the comm?

Good to know. I believe it is still achievable through normal gameplay though, if RNGesus decides to bless you with the luck of a thousand leprechauns, a horseshoe factory, and a unicorn's firstborn child.

You see the timer but it's not at 40min, it's less for the time you lost before listening to the message. You cant know they arrrive before listening to the message, right? it would be silly to have the timer before listening ^^

Really? That's a shame from the position of 'but that doesn't make sense' but it would still be cool that the game recognises and adapts to the event.

I don't understand people sometimes. Why hate an extra possibility?
I'm glad the devs confirmed something would happen!

Yeah, a lot of people just hated it for some reason. I think it got 120 replies, almost all of it was either personal insults or me retaliating to those insults, with about 6 or 7 people supporting me. Then those idiots who insulted me getting their butts handed to them when the developers confirmed what I asked, and they felt like idiots themselves.

The timer did start at 40 minutes as soon as he played the message? So if the timer was supposed to be 40... if you didn't listen to it, the Sunbeam wouldn't arrive, right?

Yes, Squeal Like a Pig is the dev
