Are Lava Lizards invincible?

Ive tried slashing the lava lizard about 100 times with a thermal blade, but its still alive and kicking. Almost got killed when my stasis rifle ran out of juice~

But that is the same blade that slained a reaper leviathan who can rip seamoths and prawns to shreds :)

Try gas torpedos from the torpedo launcher for the PRAWN. I don't know if they'll stay in the cloud long enough to die but the gas cloud does do damage.

But seriously speaking, do these beings have a finite number of hitpoints? Like even a seadragon can be killed by blades and I seriously dont think a mere lavalizard should stand up to that.
