Game not starting properly
My game seems to start, an icon appears in the taskbar and the menu music plays, but nothing else happens. No change to anything else on the desktop. I've verified the game files, tried restarting, and then uninstalled/reinstalled but it still won't work properly.

This is very sad, because I love this game. It worked fine before the last update.

I still haven't managed to get Subnautica to work again. I have updated all the drivers and checked the obscure settings stuff in Nvidia, but still have the same problem. I'm getting really upset now, because I really want to play it.
I've logged over 70 hours previously, so I know my computer can run it, and the menu music just taunts me whenever i try to run it!!!

I don't think your pc meets the minimum specs to run this game

So howcome it worked fine before? I've played it for 70 hours.

Devs have since beefed up the game. There are also new graphic options as well.

Since the large Windows 10 update a few days ago, Subnautica crashes druing game launch. A window flashes up and away, and that's all I get. It was wokring before the Windows 10 update and now it isn't working. There was less than a day between playing the game successfully and the game crashing with the update in between.
I should add I was playing with the new Subnautica update just fine. I really think it has something to do with the Windows update.

One thing you may want to try is opening up your Task Manager (Ctrl + alt + delete) and looking through your active programs. Right-click on Subnautica and cancel it, then start it up again. Several games I've played before have done something like that at one point or another and restarting them after doing this usually fixes the problem.

Another think you could try is refreshing your shortcut for your game, if you are doing that. Make sure Steam is using the right launcher for your game. Sometimes the launcher for a game gets replaced or the actual .exe application changes and Steam has trouble loading it.

You could also try verifying your game cache integrity. It is easy to do: right-click on your game in your library list and go to "Properties." Then go into your "Local Files" tab and click on "Verify Integrity Of Game Cache" or something like that. Steam should fix any missing or corrupted files it finds.

I have verified the files several times now, I've ended it through the task manager over a dozen times, and I've tried opening it directly from the .exe file. Still no luck.

Doofus_Khan {SGC} might be onto something, because it was indeed working before the last windows 10 update. (Which I suppose would make sense. They're good at screwing stuff up.)
The Long Dark is doing the same thing. That's both my favourite survival games. :(

Same issue as Doofus_Khan. Tried launching via desktop shortcut and steam app - The game icon shows on the task tray, and disappears. No record of Subnautica starting in task manager. Worked 3 days ago. Assistance appreciated

I completed a file verification task as described by Salinite and steam downloaded an update. Game launched fine after that - thanks

I am running into the same issue. Steam fires it up, it shows on my task bar, I can hear the Menu audio, but it just plays in the background and nothing comes up when I click on the task bar icon. I've re-installed, verified files, checked drivers, the whole nine yards, to no avail.
Similar issues with 7 Days to Die, Bomber Crew, and Astroneer, which makes me thing it is a Windows 10 problem.
Hope we all see a resolution to this in short order. I want to play the game I paid for.

It's very helpful to also provide your system specs. Once you do then suggestions for solutions can be made.
