I've seen a few people speculate that there is a trigger where Warpers start becoming an active issue, but I have not personally experienced it. With my last two runs being 30-40h each, I've never had a "Warper problem". I see them in the Grand Reef and around the mountain island, but as long as I don't run up and hump their face, they don't become a problem. I don't really even actively avoid them. Just make sure they're not in melee range and listen for them to throw their slow-moving warp ball and zig to avoid it.

I've only seen them down in the Grand Reef so far and only below 200m depth.

I'm only 6 hours in and have already run into two of them above 10m depth. They were hanging around on the west(?) side of the island with the Precursor installation, like, right next to the structure itself. Didn't seem to aggro when I got close enough to scan though. Day 22 btw.

People have been seeing Carar-infected wildlife in Stable now with the Precursor update, right? i haven't, but presumably once you become aware of the disease the Warpers will become aware you're infected. Not sure exactly what PDA entry would trigger that.

Previously (pre-Precursor update), they seemed to leave you alone unless you were in a vehicle. One swam right past me - within arm's reach - very late game and never did anything. First time I went past one in a vehicle, BAMF.

I'd also expect them to attack you on approaching the various Precursor facilities, especially the Grand Reef base. That's my biggest worry, actually. That getting in and out of there with whatever you need to do could be all but impossible with nigh-unkillable teleporting baddies with a freaking ranged attack and summoned friends hounding you.

So that's what those green pustules I've been seeing on some enemies is. Makes sense.

This could explain it, don't remember them being there before I interacted with the array terminal.

Warpers will chase you a little bit if close to them and within visual range, but give up quickly to fall back into their short movement/warp out paths. The devs still need to finish working on their pathing and hunting A.I. routines.

I've seen the warpers around the precurs. island a little before the Sunbeam goes down. Once I saw the glow of one in the safe shallows. Freaked me out. But I haven't had them activly persue me at all.

One of them took a whack at me because I literally swam into it due to being blind af (lol). I jumped and stabbed it with my survival knife so it teleported away. I was near the laser array and hadn't figured out I'm infected yet. So yeah.

They appear I would say after you get the cyclops closer to base, but they are always around the aurora

Just because they aren't stabbing you with their hydralisk arms doesn't mean they aren't attacking, they can do other things, like cast teleport other and warp in creatures. They cannot teleport you to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame or warp in Freddy Mercury's ghost, however.

I aggroed them with my cyclops and they shooting at me but nothing happend. If you drive some meters they stop and port away. The only thing i dont try is to get near them with my seamoth because they can teleport you out of it...

Anyone have an idea to scare them away so i can explore the area where they patrol?

I know there are no weapons but this warpers are like a content blocker and i can scare away other creatures. There should be a method to scare them away for a while or simple the shouldnt be able to teleport you out of a seamoth or PAWN!

When Sunbeam gets blown up, there's a moment when I'm down in that precursor array that they seem to make a big deal about one showing up, swimming for a bit then warping off.

That seemed to kick it off for me.

But, I never found them to be a threat. They didn't aggro to me unless I got really close to them, and when they did they swam slow, fired a blast that was easy to dodge, and warped in "pets" that quickly turned on them.

eg: a warper down in the blood kelp zone warped in a shocker... that quickly turned on him and started attacking him... I just sat there and watched while laughing and feeling sorry for the poor guy.

They may change this later, though. Warpers may become a major threat later on. They may just letting them be a bit idle for now to see if any bugs crop up.

As noted before, their ranging and movement pattern A.I isn't completed yet, so they are just stuck in forward/warp out/return patterns at this time.

Depends on the area. On paper (as I haven't tested any of this), the best you could reasonably do is pin them down with the Stasis Rifle long enough to get out of their line of sight. Any damage causes them to teleport away (even from inside Stasis), and presumably they can pre-emptively dodge any projectiles like torpedoes or Propulsion Cannon shots. You're supposed to also be able to carry Carar-infested fish that are supposed to act as lures / distraction to them... but I would imagine they kill leprous Peepers pretty quick, not buying you much time. Maybe you have to breed Carar-infested Sandsharks or the like.

If I found an enclosed space "guarded" by one I guess my fallback would be to try (and likely fail) to use a small-enough-diameter Stasis bubble to give just enough time to shoot a Crash at it with the Propulsion Cannon while frozen, hopefully hitting just as the bubble collapses so that it actually takes damage. Sounds really difficult, however. People say they Stasis the things all the time, but I don't see why they wouldn't just teleport away.
