HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
THIS GUY!!!!!
LMAO!
Yeah no. The Reaper Leviathon isn't even the biggest creature in the game ad you wanna make it BIGGER???? You mentioned not seeing what is attacking you. Well my friend, The Reaper has a tendancy to swim out of the walls of the map and attack you!!
The diver can EASILY fit into the Sea Dragons mouth and SWALLOW YOU!!1 I think that is quite big enough thank you!!!
Fog? There is already a minimized render distance and you want to add FOG??? Oh hell naw!! The water is dark and murky enough already!!
While the Reaper Leviathan is large, it isn't something that would really make me never want to enter the ocean ever. There needs to be something so huge you can't even see all of it. A monster not only capable of swallowing you, but your cyclops too.
That would add a sense of danger unseen in a game before.
Well you are maybe 1 out of 100,000 people, maybe even 1,000,000, who thinks these creatures arent large enough to be scary.
It isn't always size that matters. Its the sound and sight (or lack of it) that is truly scary.
More to the point, its the atmoshpere and the ambiance that adds to the fear factor of these creatures.
Pretty sure thats big enough!!
I just feel like with a game that is set in massive oceans, there should be massive creatures.
But can you imagine turning around and just seeing, far in the distance, the whole Aurora being completely swallowed and pulled underwater by a gigantic mouth filled with teeth the size of your cyclops?
That would be a new level of scary you haven't experienced yet. This game would be the underwater equivalent of Amnesia: The Dark Descent at that point.
That would be scary. but I don't think the planet (moon?) we're on is large enough to sustain a creature that size. I already think the Emperors are freakishly large for the environment.
So far the game has only encompassed a tiny portion of the planet. Look at the horizon. Seems like the planet is really large. And considering there are areas that are thousands of meters deep, I think it could be plausible to have an extremely deep area where a true monster lies.
I still think when the player goes too far down/towards the Void (where the map ends) an extremely massive creature should grab you and pull you down. Sadly, they're planning on just spamming the void with tons of reapers and dragons instead which is lame.
I'd always picture it like Father Dagon's hand just grabbing you from the depths and pulling you down into the tenebrous abyssal nothingness, but oh well.
As for actual monsters, I think it's fine where it's at. I still would like more leviathan creatures though. We're supposedly gonna get a "wraith leviathan" that'll end up in the lost river biome but it's gonna be smaller than a sea dragon.
I could get behind this!
Where do you draw the line at what is excessive though?
More games should push the limits of what people can handle, in my opinion. Extreme experiences with crazy things are what make games so incredible to play.
The context of a giant many-toothed monster swallowing a burning metal ship is extremely excessive and nonsensical for those reasons.
Meanwhile, the context of a giant creature that kills the player in the void itself makes a lot more sense and would be better than the developer's intended idea of just spamming reapers/dragons in there.
I'm all for over the top stuff in games, provided it fits the theme. I know the aurora bit was mostly as an example, but yeah.
