Where is the signal to the floating island?
So... I know where the island is, but I want the signal(just pretend I dont know the location) because stroy wise. I searched the shallows near the crash zone, found tons of chest but only with batteries and water in it. :/ Even got the coffee machine! x'D

What I've completed: Went to Lifepod 17 and with the Signal to 7,3,6(Got the PDA's), got the Seamoth, have the bioreactor completed, some fragments for the cyclops, went to the mushrooms forest, even went to the border of the grassy plateaus where the dunes start. But I was to afraid to go deeper. :P

What am I doing wrong? I even got the message where the rendezvou point was mentioned.

Signals that indicate things like landmasses or cave openings, or heat sources, no longer exist in the game, I don't think. They've been replaced by lifepod signals. You can find a signal for the floating islands but it is found inside the Aurora and it is described as "an energy source from an unknown origin" or something like that.
Deku Dec 7, 2016 @ 4:36pm
Can I get into the Aurora without anything special? at least to the part where I get the Signal. I was on the shallow part of the Aurora.

Here: http://puu.sh/sHRp7/1306cc71e6.png its still in the Safe Shallows Part. Im really scared of the reaper so I was proud that I got there. How do I enter the Aurora now? If possible: I want to stay on the sand above sea level. :D Just want to avoid these thing for now and focus on building a giant, beatiful base. But I get most of the things on the island and the MP Room on the Mountain Island(Theres a reaper D:) which comes, after I get the cyclops(Dunes uhh..)

So, any way? Im not sure if the YouTube Video Tricks are still working. Im too scared to try it out :X Because if they are outdated... Oh man..

The front of the Aurora has a metal floor bent down like a ramp, you go up that =) there is a door up there
Zemecon Dec 7, 2016 @ 4:42pm
You enter te Aurora at the front of the vessel. Once you enter through the Aurora's still-standing metallic skeleton, you won't need to worry about the Reaper Leviathon. You will need a flashlight, a fire extinguisher, a survival knife (for the bleeders) and ideally the propulsion cannon, though the area where the propulsion cannon comes into use can be traversed without one.
Deku Dec 7, 2016 @ 4:45pm
Okay, thank you! :) But Im not sure what you mean with "Auroras still-standing metallic skeleton", do you have a screenshot?

I got everything you listed except for the propulsion cannon, guess I have to search for the blueprint first!

After a certain while the Aurora blows up. That part should be really noticeable.

If you stick to the top of the water, you can get to the Aurora without any sort of special item. (North side of the Aurora on the side you land by)Scuba tank, Flippers, ETC... I usually go there with a scuba tank or two, flippers, and a repair tool by the time I swim there normally.

The signal to the island won't tell you it's to the island. Also the chests are randomized in the Aurora and throughout playthroughs, so I've had games where I've had no signal to the floating island (which is very likely to happen).

Thing thing about Reapers is you hear them from so far away, you normally won't be close enough for them to attack you. Don't be scared, swim on the surface and don't look down.

Zemecton, this isn't true.

There is no signal for the Floating Islands. There is a MESSAGE though, which comes in the same way the lifepod signals do. It says there's a rendezvous spot 750m south of the ship but the rendezvous coordinates are garbles. There's no actual signal though. Just the message.

The signal for the mountain area where the gun will be (in experimental it's already there, in stable it's not) is from the Aurora.

You don't absolutely need the propulsion cannon. It is only required to make access to the Cargo Bay 3 area easier.

I don't have a screenshot of the front part of the Aurora on my right now but any other screenshot of the front taken from the side of the ship should show you what I am talking about. The long pieces of metal sticking out at the front are what I mean - they would have been the ship's "skeleton" or framework but the parts of the ship around them have since been destroyed or fallen off. If you swim into the area where the rest of the ship would have been, you will be safe from the Reaper Leviathon while you manage to climb onto the part of the ship that is still standing.

When I downloaded the message from the data console, I also got a signal for an energy signature that appears to be in the direction of the floating island.

EDIT: Added quotes and a second response.

I've gotten through dozens of playthroughs without it fine. Just get a couple of scuba tanks and some flippers. (It does make it lots easier though.)

There might not be a signal on one play through but there will be on others (maybe). ♥♥♥♥ RNG.

The part I am referring to requires you to jump from the ledge above if you don't happen to have the propulsion cannon. The scuba tanks and flippers are for the rest of the ship.

I don't know which part that is, but I am interested in learning. Can I get something to see what you are talking about?

*SIGH*

Time to take some screenshots. BRB.

Zemecton,

When I downloaded the message from the data console, I also got a signal for an energy signature that appears to be in the direction of the floating island.

The energy signal is by the mountain. To the north.

There's a message that comes through the communication box that says the rendezvous point is at a landmass 750m from the crash site, but the coordinates are garbled. There is no signal for the floating island. At some point there may have been one, but it's no longer there on my play throughs. Again, the only signal is for an energy reading. That signal is by the mountain. In stable the signal is just sitting there in the water with nothing around it, but in experimental it leads to the precursor gun.

OK, to answer Deku's inquery into the Aurora's "skeleton," look here:

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=814217722

That would be the side of the Aurora. Notice how the outside of the Aurora hides the inside part? That's because whatever destroyed it destroyed the center of the ship, targeting the Warp Core which in turn caused an internal explosion. That is why more of the inside is gone than the outside. That is why you need to go around the ship to the very front. Notice the parts of the outside of the ship sticking out. That is the ship's metallic framework or "skeleton."

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=814217935

When inside and looking out, you will notice that the outside of the ship extends beyond the inside of the ship into the open water. You will also notice that there are gaps along the left side of the ship at the front that you can swim through to reach the inside.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=814218156

Because more of the inside of the ship are missing than the outside, small inlets are created. If the player swims beyond the outside part of the ship and into these inlets, they will - or should - be safe from any Reaper Leviathon attacks. That is because the Reaper Leviathons can't fit through the gaps on the outside part of the ship.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=814218449

There is more missing from the left side than the right side so players don't need to go as far if they are swimming to the front of the ship along the left side. If you are coming in from the right side, you will have more in your way.

....

And now for Lobster!'s inquiry:

When you go into the Aurora from the front, you should come to a "T" corridor; at the end of that corridor there will be a corridor going to the doorway to Cargo Bay 3 on the left and a corridor going to the doorway to the Administration Office on your right.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=814218801

This is the doorway to Cargo Bay 3. I came here earlier. That's why the boxes have been moved out of the way. I used the Propulsion Cannon, but you don't necessarily need that in order to get through. Notice the ledge above the doorway along the side.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=814219015

If you get up onto this ledge from the side opposite the side with the doorway, you can walk along it until you are above the doorway. If you sprint past the fire on the left, you can jump over or on top of the boxes.

Hope that helps.

The one I have is pointing to the opposite side of the Aurora. When I got to the floating island my PDA told me there was an energy source detected near there. Maybe my signal is bugged, or maybe I am not remembering where it went correctly, but I know where the mountain island is and the energy signature I got from the ship does not seem to be pointing there.
slxpress Dec 7, 2016 @ 6:36pm
Hmmm.... Well, my apologies then. My last 5 times I've started the game the energy signature signal is distinctly located right by the mountain. But if that's not the case for you, then that's not the case for you.
