How to protect cuddle fish?
So I haven't found a cuddle fish yet but I was reading once it hatches and you put it in open waters, you cant pick it back up.

This is terrible! How do we protect our cuddle fish if we can't put them back into the containment aquarium when we have to go out into dangerous waters?

What if it gets lost and I can't find it though? Get into the cyclops? Seamoth? Walking around on land?

I want my poor cuddle fish to be safe, it's too adorbs to put it at risk.

I hatced cuddlefish and moved it outside, near the base right under the escape pod in safe shallows.
I played with it couple of times, smiled and forgot about it.
I did some crafting, some preparations, get into seamoth and ventured right to the Sea Treaders Path. Without stops and turning around, in one hop, got to the place, got out of the seamoth and !OMFG!!!111
This little ♥♥♥♥♥♥ swims right before my eyes, miles away from the place I dropped him.
Well, ok, I think. Seems like this pet is scripted to follow me forever anywhere I go, i think.
Packed all bags with resources from under treaders feet, hopped into the seamoth, turned back to the base and... never saw this cute little stupid mofo again.
Dunno how t get him back.

Although, I had to interrupt and then load the game during this tour, and people here

says that Cuddlefish disapears after loading, so that must be the reason.

I just leave mine in the containment tank. Don't really want the thing following me around and getting in the way.

I dropped mine in a safe area in the center of my main base. I have Tigerplants protecting the two predator approaches and the base is so large now that even the Gasopods stay away from the kelp forest side. If they wanted to include it, and I think it's a waste personally, it should make itself useful like serving as a courrier for inventory (for example, to underwater storage boxes, the PRAWN and Moth storage,) lookout for large fauna / distraction from the player from them, and scout for rare resources the scanner doesn't want to look for. And for cripe's sake include a Cuddlefish Whistle the thing is a nightmare to corral or call over

A crabsquid took 3 strikes at mine and it still died. I am not believing any of that "it has a lot of health" stuff. :|

If only it knows how to use a first aid kit...

Can't test it myself right now but would two of them breed in a tank by themselves? That'd be interesting.

You can “park” the cuddlefish somewhere safe by right clicking I believe....or it’s left clicking. If you hover your mouse over him the option to do so comes up. If I go anywhere I don’t take him with me just in case. I leave him near my base.

Yes but things still can get them, or vehicles, etc.

Note how I said “somewhere safe”. Safe shallows. I personally keep mine right under my base in the safe shallows. I’ve never managed to run over my own XD.

Yes but not everybody puts their base in the Safe Shallows. As you get into other biomes, it becomes harder for you to hide your cuddlefish, as predators will probably find it if they get in range.

The large one yes, the small one no. But when you take the Cuddlefish out of the large aquarium, you can't put it back in, which is stupid.
