The mod won't be able to succeed as a lot of the coding is unaccessable.
As many replies above me have stated people would rather have other smaller vehicles that can perform a specific task. As far as big vehicles are concerned I think most people would rather the devs ironed out any remaining problems with the Cyclops than give tham an even bigger sub.
As far as I can imagine, the only way to get into the lost rivers with that huge, nice submarine would be the entrance in the bloodkelp-zone around livepod 3's location...
...thoug I'm not quite sure about that, but I've walked right through it with the parwnsuit and it seemed possible (this doesn't mean it has to) and I heard about people winding their way past this passage with a cyclops.
For the lava zone, I'd suggest useing the entrance behind the treecove.
If it it'd be added, they could include an extra entrence in the map (maybe close to or even inside the void, in order to let the beatiful map intact) in the mod or whatever.
Also, to make sure it won't make the cyclops useless, it should be very, VERY expensive to fabricate, while still providing abilities that make it worth to build, such as a recource scanner or an increadibly high hull integety (my favourite) of 10.000 or sth.
