As far as I know, they do not.

They don't seem to actively attack sea bases, but if your base does get hit (by a Tiger Plant, for example; I've had my own Tiger Plants punch holes in my base while aiming for me when I'm outside), it will begin to spring leaks. Leviathans might be a different story, but I wouldn't build inside a Leviathan's actual territory, personally.

It's all very odd, really. There's a hull breach mechanic for bases, but it's rarely seen unless you goof constructing at depth or something maybe hits the base by mistake. I imagine they found creature attacks difficult to balance properly, especially when the player is away from the base.

They can program objects to be invulnerable when the player is not inside, like the cyclops. That's not the problem.

Active attacks on the base would simply be very unfair and annoying, especially in large bases where you would have to walk around for some time until you can even find the breaches.

My guess would be that they do attack, if you take refuge in them when being chased.
I'm probably wrong tho, as I have not experienced any attacks, since I'm over careful with placements of my buildings and so on.

Or the devs have not yet added such feature that provokes attacks on sea bases when you take refuge in one.

sometimes they do, i build a habbitat near the alien gun base there they sometimes attack

Never had a creature attack my base.. crashed my cyclops into my own a few times though.. and my favorite method.. trying to salvage my bulbo tree and accidently stabbing a hold in my base XD

If a crabsquid does its emp near your base you will lose all your power and have to regen it from 0 this has happened to me , it was going for my prawn whitch was just outside.

I once raised four crabsquids in my containment tanks. Once released, they ignored me, but not the base. They wandered around the base making a right mess of things.

Only one reason to raise Crabsquid... Bioreactor. :) 740 units of energy per squiddy.

I had my base damaged 3 times by 3 different critters (that I saw):

1. crashfish launched itself out of a hole near my base when I swam by, and it hit my base instead and put a big hole in it.
2. was in a fight with one of the reaper leviathans that lives near the stern of the aurora in my prawn. I grappled it and it took me for a ride into the shallows while I kept punching it. It ran right into my base and tore up 3 different sections.
3. gasopod. swam by it, it popped pods, pods hit base. holes.

so my conclusion is that your base CAN be damaged by critters, usually unintentionally (crashfish, gasopod), but also intentionally (reaper).

fights between predators and prey that happen near your based can put holes in it to I have seen.

still, I think if you work to avoid pissing things off near your base, it will be ok for the most part.

that said, every base I have built so far (3) has gotten flooded at one point or another because of critter damage. often when I am not even around. I come back after a long time away, and the base is flooded and I have to repair holes somewhere.

Well after seeing how easy a Tread?? and Reaper die......There needs to be more threat for mid to late game. This Prawn is too much. But the Seamouth is weak and nearly useless.
I would love to have to fend off attacks or repair damage after being away. As long as it does not wipe me out entirely.
Oh well I got my money out of the game. Getting bored now knowing that I am able to defeat pretty much anything with the prawn. Reapers run if they grab you and you give them a beating. Just like anything else. Treat?? well just jump on top of them and pound on them. Watch them fall......

Attack yes, damage no. At least that's what my experience has been.

I think the most irritable creature in Subnautica is the Lava larva. Parasites that are trying to suck you dry slowly, but in numbers are more than a pest and if you're unlucky can eventually kill.

I've watched both Reapers and Ghost Leviatians pound my base, with no reprecussions (Yes, I like the challenge of building in hostile territory).

However, I'd actually kind of like to experience the threat of base damage. Things seem a little too sandbox at the moment. And, with the threat of base damage would come the prospects for base defense items (maybe cyclops shielding, or electric pulses). At the moment, my base defense is several planters full of tiger plants. A word of caution however... this can be hazardous to your health if done improperly :)
