The dead zone is the volcanic crater?
If it is... why then we fall more than 2k meters? (the volcanic crater is 2000 x 2000 meters long)

NO, NO and NO!!! My god, isn't it obvious? This 2km x 2km volcanic crater is our map. The map we play on is the peak of this volcano! And because it is volcano, all around the map is steep drop to depths that are soo deep because volcanos are really high, it could lead thousands of kilomethers deep.

Please give F1 camera world position for this crater. I don't know what you are talking about. Do you mean this location?

If so, this is just a former volcano's center area that is now a crater.

It is just like movies. There are a lot of inconsistancies that cannot be explained. The devs are probably not geologists.

Mr. Freeze, a tumulus crater can be underwater as well on land. It's the center of a somewhat inactive volcano. A good example is the crater in Mt. St. Helens in Washington State. The one in the game is decent recreation of one, though the crater walls would be different, less holey.

Thats cool! I didn't know those were real. I'm not a geologist but I love this kind of stuff. Thank you for telling me about these kinds of craters. I'm gonna have to look into them now!

Geological scans of this area show a steep decline in all directions. This data is consistent with the theory that that the Aurora crashed on the edge of a 2km x 2km volcanic crater. It has likely been millennia since an eruption reached the surface, encouraging the ecosystem within the crater to flourish.

Is that some new PDA data or are you just making that up for story?

new PDA stuff, you need to be more in the know Phaota

I'm not sure what the inconsistency is here? The crater is there under the Aurora it's just under ground.

I'm very well "in the know" Mezmer. I just haven't been to the crater in a little while, so I haven't gotten that PDA message. Just made a new save game and base yesterday, so when I get back down for some bug testing, I'll receive that message.
The author of this topic has marked a post as the answer to their question.

Which also means that there is a really high probability that this volcano peek is the only one place on entire planet that can support life cuz anywhere else it's soo deep it's ridiculous.
Btw it also explains why are all precursor facilities built here, because everywhere elswere on the planet it's soo deep that they simply could build only here. It also explains why is there only one precursor weapon facility.

Was it really necessary to necro that month-old thread?

yep, it triggered me

Unless the devs indicate this is the case, which is quite fantastical, I'm not going to believe the entire map area is the former peak of a massive underwater volcano. It just doesn't work considering the terrain variety.

considering that the planet is a giant earth like planet but 99.9% is water i don't think that the entire planet is a massive underwater volcano, otherwise it would be an extremely luck that the Aurora fell in the only place that is not void
