There isn't enough land to justify a land vehicle, nothing interesting on the surface to justify a boat, and nothing so high up as to justify aircraft.
Not even joking. This would be legit useful. You gotta leave your prawn suit to actually collect node materials most of the time anyways.
Or more silly, stepping out to remove your drill or propulsion cannon, getting back in, then slowly using your wonky hitbox claws to try and do it.
If the prawn is destined to suck at node resource collection, might as well cut out the middleman.
