The lab equipment may eventually become functional. We may eventually be using it alongside the transfuser and maybe a few other tools to do some more sciency stuff when or after Subnautica is released.

Use it to look like you are some sort of smart @$$ that isn't just fumbling about trying to not get eaten, or just make your home look cool.
