All about Decoration
I really love this game a LOT And i really like the idea of building your own individual home in a survival game. What i have noticed tho is that compared to other games subnautica feels a little slim on the decorating options. I mean it's great that we have beds and shelves as well as vending machines and trashcans but that's about it.

What i can suggest are the following:

- small planters to put on top of tables
- a tv that maybe livestreams from some sort of camera, displayes simulated tv like in the sims or has the option for slideshows. (And can be turned off and on)
- different shelves
- a toilet (that's probably something that's only dreamed of by me.)
- a sink
- a kitchen and kitchen attire
- a microwave with only the option of cooking things but maybe decreasing the calories of the food
- a bathtub (i know we are in water 24/07 but i see a bath as a very different expereance. Something to relax in. With the same function of a chair but with water coming in and draining again (if possible)

That's all i could think of but now let's get over to the obtainable decoration items i have in mind:

- sculptures of fauna
- other sculptures
- kitchen attire (like pots, dishes and all that stuff
- more posters of nature or something simmilar to the keep calm thing
- a radio (which can play ingame soundtracks by selection and is also able to play tracks the player has on their computer (like the radio in the sims)
- more plushies!!!
- more treasures unique to the planet you are stranded on. Maybe even precursor treasures that look like weird sculptures

And now for my last suggestion:

Minigames! (These could also be dlc's)

I would personally love to see a cooking minigame where you have a ton of different recipes that you can make in a minigame that maybe restores full hunger as a reward. Doesn't have to include only edible stuff if possible. Maybe certain plants are made edible by the preperation of the meal to give more options to the recipes. I can allready see the different ingredients be chopped up by hitting a button over and over again or stiring with the mouse or gamepad joystick. I can see that adding these animations might be a lot to add but i would love seeing them. I was thinking of something like a simplified cooking mama recipe. And because of the complexity of that i suggested this to be a cooking dlc.

Some of you might say that this would be unnessesairy but so are the coffee machine and the chips vending machine.

So overall, i would love to see more base building options and more stuff involving cooking because i really love these game aspects a lot and would love to see them live up to their full potential.

After a lot of exploring and garhering materials i belive that we all deserve to lay back sometimes and enjoy some delicious cooking. While watching tv Because maybe that's what matters the most in this lonely world of subnautica. Treat yourself!

Tell me what you think about this! And if you have more ideas feel free to add them in the comments! I'm looking forward to reading them!

Toiletries in general.
Softies, plushies etc YES.
More art in general.
Music / custom music / radio or MP3 type ( whatever they have on Alterra ships ) Need to be able to let the Peepers and Koi-walla when I get her hear some BabyMetal.

Irrelevant at the moment.. if its fatal or not.
Since we cant do jack about it.
At least being able to take a nice bubble soak, listen to music we could face the day happy.
ED: I feel your meaning here.

Out of all these suggestions, my favorite by far is the music player that draws from a folder on your computer (or music playlists on the HD for the console peasants).

Could be like a jukebox or something.

Also like the idea of MOAR PLUSHIES. I want a Lerk plushie in game, and irl.

This isn't The Sims. We don't need tons of decoration. Now, if you choose to stay on the planet and live out the rest of your life instead of leaving in the rocket ship you will have the opportunity to construct, then sure, decorations can be a thing, but within reason. They have to be found in wrecks, the Aurora or by way of blueprints obtained in some odd way. We don't need a kitchen, accessories for it or a sink. The fabricator is our cooker, so why do we need a microwave? A cooking mini-game? Seriously? Again, this isn't The Sims or some other game with things like that. It's a survival experience. The coffee machine and snack machine were already made assets from the team's previous game, Natural Selections. They didn't have to do much other than upgrade the textures and make them work properly (well, the coffee machine still needs to create a mug). The world outside is your TV. You don't need to numb your mind by sitting in front of a box. Twiggies, it's "more", not "moar".

Considering the massive amount of debt to Alterra the protagonist will be in due to being billed for every resource they exploit, remaining on world to avoid creditors could be considered the intelligent choice.

I'm really a huge fan of adding more base deco, but SO MUCH this. So much of these suggestions just don't fit thematically. Bathroom stuff fits because well, bathroom (though bathtub makes way less sense than shower, as likely you're trying to rinse off toxins or sea water). Kitchen doesn't fit for reasons Phaota described. More plushies and posters don't make sense because everything is coming off of the Aurora, and it really doesn't make that much sense to have a dozen posters and stuffed animals have been brought along and/or survive the crash. Small decorative tokens from the planet could be cool, but only if they're rare and hard to find. Makes exploration worth it. TV and Radio make zero sense because where is the signal coming from?

And mini games. Just. I mean, if you want to play cooking games, go play cooking games. This is not that. The idea here is to let crap cook while you're out exploring.

Like I said, I'm all for adding more base deco. I think it's needed. But it needs to also fit the theme and not just be The Sims Underwater.

I just kinda want a way to place loot around seabases, that'd be fine imo.

Jesus christ i was just talking about what i would like to see personnally. Don't get so serious about it. And since base building is a thing decorations will only improve that. Don't act like that cynical old man because if they listened to you we would have nothing except for a fabricater/ power source and lockers. Just because this isn't the sims doesn't mean that influence of that wouldn't work. I am a fan of crafting and decorating so i usually prefer those attributes. If you don't care about your base being compfortable then that's fine but you aren't everyone.

Neither does a markiplier doll, a coffe machine, a dinosaur toy, a living wall or anything like that more sense? Where does the coffee come from? Where the chips? Do they just magically restock? These wer just personal preferences i have that i shared. Not more.

So basically, when you say "tell me what you think", you only want to see people agree with you then.
