Having something it can actually connect to would help too.
I would recommend starting a creative mode game and training various base connections and placements of various pieces. I only recently found out how to connect multipurpose rooms together vertically and that hatches can be placed on the ceiling and the floor of the regular corridors too.
finally managed to do it, that was the hardest thing so far in the game...
edit~ um wtf..... is it just me or you cant reach prawn suit storage while its in moon pool??????
I would love to have an Rotate option after u placed it .... my seamoth is facing the base instead of facing in cyclops direction so i always have to make a turn for leaving the base
just really have to rearrange corridors and that not a big hassle considering you get all the materials back but the moonpool is dumb that you cant rotate it (4m35s)
You don’t always have to build the moonpool first to guarantee the launch direction. One thing I always do when building a base is build a foundation first. See the foundation in your pic? See how the floor kind of looks like a gun turret? The moonpool always launches in the opposite of the “turret”. Aka if the “guns” face north you will launch south. So, if I’m building off a centralized structure like multi-purpose room tower, by orientating a foundation first, I know whenever I add in my moonpool it will always launch in the direction I want.
So if you deconstructed your base, turned the foundation and rebuilt it, you would be golden.
