Aerogel blueprint not unlocking?
Experimental build here. I was about to start building a PRAWN when I realized that I didn't have the fabricator blueprint for aerogel. I checked, and despite having found and scanned a gel sack (not to mention filling an exterior growbed full of them) I do not have the blueprint, and thus cannot make aerogel...or a PRAWN.

I know that I can use the console to unlock it manually, but I'm asking to see if anyone else has come across this, and/or whether it's possible that the devs intend that the aerogel blueprint now be unlocked by other means.

(On a small sidenote, has anyone tried to use a fire extinguisher underwater? It pushes you backwards, like in that scene in the WALL-E film.)

I've read some people picking them and not getting the blueprint. What worked for them was replanting it and picking it again. So harvest some you've grown and see if that helps.

Already done that, from the growbed anyway. I can try with a 'naturally' planted gel sack, see if that works.

Since you're in experimental it might be a new bug. I just know that others have had a similar problem and repicking it had solved it. I hope picking a fresh one helps you. If it doesn't, just unlock it because it should open with picking the gel sacks.

I'm an idiot.

What I was doing wrong was that I was CUTTING the gel sacks for the spores, instead of PICKING UP a gel sack. I had never picked up a gel sack before now, but the moment I did that, the blueprint unlocked.

Nice to hear the problem was solved. :)

Don't be hard on yourself.
I still think that scanning should have done it, not picking it up
