how do i get gel sac spores

Head north west into Mushroom Forest. Look for little balls rolling around on the ground, collect. These are Gel Sacs. Technically, you can collect them anywhere you have those glowing blue ray-type fish, but I found them easiest and fastest in Mushroom Forest, right under the giant giant mushroom tree.

no way to farm them?

last I checked, you could slash the spore sacs wih your knife, and get their spores - 2 spores from each stabbed sac. You can then plant those in an exterior growbed

An easier place to find them is right near the Aurora. On the sandbar, there should be a few crevaces; just swim down into them and you'll see a few. Slash em and grow em.

if you dont have a knife with you, pick the whole Gel Sac, take it back to your base, drop it outside, get your knife then slash it.

As mentioned, the best way to get them is to look in the crevices on the west side of the Aurora. The deepest one has at least two of them.

For farming purposes, build an outdoor growbed and plant them in it. Problem solved.
