We should be able to Salvage or Repair Abandoned Sea Bases.
I feel like we are missing a good chance at something with this. I have often wondered in the year or so that I have owned Subnautica, why we are unable to Salvage Abandoned Seabases. Or have the opportunity to restore them given we had the titanium, or glass or whatever we needed to repair the damage.

Just kind of makes sense if we were able to salvage an abandoned sea base, we should get half of what is required to build them.

Same goes for repairing them, it costs half of what it would cost to make the seabase from scratch. For example it’s what 2 Glass for a window? Maybe 1 glass is needed to repair it. 3 Titanium required to repair a Multipurpose Room.

Once we visit those Seabases they serve their purpose and the likely hood of us going back there is minimal.

It would be a really awesome addition to the game if we could Repair them or Salvage them as we seen fit. Imagine being able to Salvage or repair one of those Observation bases on the Floating Island, or being able to repair the seabase in the mushroom caves or the Ghost Forest by the Lost River. I think that would be kinda cool.

Along with some of the Debris from the Aurora. Metal Beams, Cargo Containers Ect. Im not saying we should be able to Salvage the wrecks of the ship but some of the smaller debris should be salvageable given we had the right tool for the job.

What are your thoughts?

I like this idea! It would also make it easier to have multiple bases in different biomes.

I would like this idea too, that would be amazing

Salvageing abandoned bases i can imagine. that could be implemented with a moderate amount of work. Repairing and moving in would take alot of man hours and the reward isnt really worth it from a dev point of view.

Making a static base you can explore is 1 thing, making it entirely slavageable and repairable is a whole new can of worms.

Great idea though : )

I could see how it would take some extra work. Then again. They game is in early access so if the devs seen the idea, and they liked it. I dont see the extra work being an issue.

Sure I get your point Dies Fourth how the reward not being worth it. I just feel like it would add that little aspect to a great game would make it that much better. Especially for those of us who play Hardcore and Survival. Building a base in the Ghost Forest or Mushroom caves could be quite difficult given the type of hostile creatures that live in those particular biomes.

And thanks. Just sort of Dawned on me the other day while I was going in an out of the Lost River.

I don't think it would add anything to the game really, and it's not like titanium is in short supply. Also both of those bases are surrounded by awful things. The only marginally good one is the floater island one, and it's kind of far from lost river unless you like your cyclops getting snagged, knocked over and lost in the deep grand reef.

This was a feature in a game called Farsky which is actually a water sandbox survival game despite it's name(I never got the name) and you would repair the base and wait for it to drain until BAM instant base and it was a pretty neat and usefull feature.

Geckoman242 Right? I feel like it would add that little extra gameplay element.

Everytime I swim by an abandoned seabase or scraps of metal laying on the ocean floor. I just wonder why I cant salvage any of it. Or repair the seabases.

I realize that Resources are in abundance, but as with every game like this you usually get plenty of resources. I just feel like they are this hidden gem in the game. Where after your initial visit. You scan the things you find in there, take the coffee machine or lab equipment, the posters and whatever else like datapads and then after that. You just never come back.

Would just be really cool I think if you could restore them. Like someone said those bioms where they are; are pretty dangerous so if you wanted to build a base there it would be difficult.

For me I like having plenty of bases around especially in areas where its difficult to move the cyclops around. Having those extra bases for me makes a difference in whether or not I have to stop what I am doing just because I ran out of food. These bases give me the chance to resupply without going very far.
