Is there something I missed at the rendezvous point?
So I got the rendezvous point on the floating island and got all the logs from the degasi survivors but that beacon is still there. Did I miss something important?

There's a PDA at or near the beacon.

the other survivors died

Did you play back all of the PDAs on the island? There are... 5? in total. You should be getting a new waypoint to a new base after this for later.

Did you prevent them from shooting down the rescue ship?

If not you are in trouble.

The beacon is just....a beacon. They don’t disappear just because to went to the island and found all the things. It can be turned off in the PDA just like every mother beacon in game.

No but you're supposed to get a new story goal from picking them all up.

Those aren't necessarily what the beacon points to. By this point, you should have gotten those and progressed at least to that part. The rendezvous point leads to a PDA of the 2nd officer and the CTO about to go to the Aurora.

No no no.

The beacon points to the lagoon with the first PDA. When you find the others, you get a waypoint for their proposed base underwater as far as I can recall.

No, I just got this one today. The one in the lagoon is the officer/CTO one. The Degassi ones are scattered over the rest of the island and should have been found before the beacon leading to the rendezvous point appears.

Okay, are you talking about Second Officer Keen or the Degasi survivors? Keen's rendezvous point only has a PDA that reveals that CTO Yu and him "perished at sea" after being attacked on their way to the Aurora. The PDA is on the beach of the little lagoon in the middle of the island. If you're talking about the Degasi survivors, the PDAs will give you a new beacon to their first underwater base.

BTW, beacons don't disappear. They'll always be in your beacon tab in your PDA, so you just have to deactivate them from there.

honestly I wasn't aware that you could. I thought it would shoot it down regardless. But where would the fun be in that, rather than curing the infection?

The Sunbeam still doesn't rescue you, even if you disable the gun (which by the way requires you to cure the infection). They say they can't land and leave you there.

So, I am stuck here now. I did NOT find the purple tablet initially and made the attempt to rendezvous with the rescue craft. After seeing it blown up, I am no longer able to progress beyond the rendezvous point, even after returning to the island, finding the pda's and the purple tablet.

What should I do next? I have spent hours trying to see if I get another radio signal and played all the pda recordings.

I am actually not sure, if you even get a new beacon at that point, just the hint in the degassi PDAs that they went deeper and into some caves and a direction. So go and search for the base. Next base is in the jelly shroom caves, several entrances to the caves can be found between the save shallows and the grassy plateaus. purple/pink glowing plants are a good indicator for entrances. a MK1 depth module would be helpfull for your seamoth, but you can manage it without it.
