The Mountains....
In my opinion the Mountains is one of the more underused biomes. In all of my play throughs I've never had a reason to go explore the Mountains, I go to the Mountain Island and that's about it.
The Dunes on the other hand I go to often in the safety of my Cyclops to get w/e I need. But imo the Mountains needs something to make it more unique.

So you don't visit the Precursor Quarantine Facility or look for the 8 artifacts scattered around there?

I said the Mountains, as in the area that's underwater, not the Mountain Island.

I always go to the wreck there and occasionally gather resources. The warpers and reapers scare me though.

Nothing a Cyclops can't fix.

Yeah I only go there and in the Dunes with a Cyclops, but still the Mountains is underused af

You can find Cyclops Engine fragments there, and it is a good early-on area to find diamonds and magnetite. And there are a few Purple Artifacts underwater as well.

I always find my cyclops fragments everywhere else but there since it's so inconvenient. Magnetite I get enough on the Island itself

It's more the leaving of the cyclops that concerns me. But I go to the wreck before I have the cyclops to try to get the engine fragments. It's normally my first or second stop when trying to get them.

For me the koosh is the most underused biome. I go to the wreck, the lifepod, scan a koosh or two and take a sample for my gardening and never return again. Perhaps it's a player by player thing which biome isn't really visited.

Actually it was a throw up for me between the Mountaiins and The Koosh zone

Do it as close to the ground as possible.

Staying close to the ground helps in this case, too. It lowers the chance to get grabbed by the Reaper Leviathan, because its size makes it hard for it to navigate.
