Is the Cyclops indestructible?
Yes, it seems it is. I took it down to the Lava Castle and chased the Sea Dragon Leviathan around, trying to engage it. At first, the horn of the Cyclops and the Sea Dragon cry are remarkably similar. I thought maybe it was leaving. I was wrong.

It flipped the Cyclops around, pinned it against a wall (a few times), peppered it with lava chunks, and as near as I can tell, the Cyclops is truly indestructible. It could be a safe assumption that sooner or later, it will give out, but it took a real licking and kept on ticking.

I left in my PRAWN suit to see if I could get some shots from the outside, but not this time. :steamfacepalm:

I've been wondering about that. When they first introduced the cyclops to the game there was a possibility of leaks caused by collisions I think, I remember running around with the repair tool trying to fix all the leaks before it sunk. But I haven't had that experience recently so maybe they removed it? I guess you can still ruin the cyclops by exceeding it's crush depth.

I'm pretty sure the cyclops can be damaged under the max safe depth when hitting stuff. But at least on the wiki it says that if the cyclops falls under 1500 m (max cyclops depth) and sinks, then you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥, and have to get a new one and venture down to regather the lost rescources.

I took my Cyclops down by the Sea Dragon and it wailed on me for a while, but I didn't sustain any damage. Taking it below its maximum depth, however, quickly showed that it will start to flood. In addition you CANNOT repair it faster than it's taking damage, so if you're unable to get it back above its maximum depth within about the first 30 seconds, you're screwed. It'll start filling with water which counts as weight and applies physics accordingly. Your Cyclops will capsize and will begin sinking on its own. Even if you have energy left, a fully flooded Cyclops cannot pull its own weight. So if your sub gets filled with water and you're not back above maximum depth, it's as good as gone. Luckily, the only real way to screw yourself over like this is by going into the void (or, as I like to call it, the abyss).

If i had to guess, the sub is only temporarily industructible besides sinking it. At least until this game goes into beta.

i have been campaigning a few times to make the cyclops less indestructable however a few people have convinced me that it should have the ability to be protected against some things, but other things it shouldn't be and requires an upgrade so it starts out more vulnerable and later on when you can get and slot the upgrade, the cyclops will be more protected.

as it is at this point, you can do anything with the cyclops in god mode.
