Other than that, no, you have to go out and knife them.
You can pretty much go at full speed the majority of the map. Only when you are in Reaper or Seadragon areas do you need silent running.
If they attack, you activate the shield and either speed out of there or continue with Silent Running.
I have never had to fire a distraction torpedo.
Lava Larva are totally harmless in the wider scheme of things. They may drain your power, but inside the Cyclops you should have some storage with 1-4 additional power cells.
With charge-fins you can indefinitely power your Repulsion cannon and remove the Lava Larva from your ship.
With a few additional power cells, coupled with how easy it is to charge them using a single tiny base and 1x or more Thermal Power Generators in the deep zones, power and refuelling is never an issue.
I can reliably bring my Submarine to the deepest 1500m Primary Containment Facility without ever being attacked by the Sea Dragon, Lava Lizards or any Lava Larvae. I personally feel the Wildlife is laughable in terms of how 'dangerous' it is supposed to be.
This is also the best solution to ensure that Lava Larva don't attach while the Cyclops is parked -- position one or more gravisphere's near the Cyclops and they will intercept and hold any larva that happen to wander towards the Cyclops.
Brilliant! Ever since I found that design, I've been wondering if there was ANY point to the 'Grav-Traps' beyond novelty. Keeping pests off your submarine - of course, they're perfect for that! :D
