They are fine, Use the environment and dodge. May be have modes from Easy to Insanely hard. Panthers power is good I think. got to level 20 and used beast weapons and it was fine. Keep up the Great work.
Wait for their flurry to go through, 3 attacks in sequence, then hit them hard.
Circle strafing them does help a lot, too
But yeah, the pounce attack is really shocking, I love it.
Crocodiles have a rather long range dash attack as well, but those are rather easy to spot.
How do you put somebody on patrol?
As far as I'm concerned, the developers can give those who can do that a hardcore mode with 1 HP, but the way the Panthers are now they are almost invincible for me.
And not everyone can be a good player and you can still like a game but find it too difficult.
for everything like stamina consumption, harvesting rates, player, companion and NPC damage, time speed, sleep recovery speed, hunger/thirst, item degradation etc.
Just for single player or private servers, if those will be a thing.
I was only level 25 with beast gear and it was hard. Not sure what your doing wrong. try getting high on a rock face, bow them down to half and then jump down and finish them off.
so many ways to kill them. take your time to block and learn the game mechanics.

Wild animals don't attack again if they had their meal. They also fear the fire.
Let's assume panther in this game have rabies and don't act normally. But when they ignore several spear thrusts in the face - that's getting ridiculous.
It's OK if they kill players with two-three hits, but they should also die with the same amount of well placed hits by the player.
I've tried dodging, blocking, hiding behind obstacles, using positioning around the anaconda's body, doesn't matter, it will clip through terrain or itself, whatever it takes, to land this 100% kill. Only options are either run away before the attack sequence begins or kill it before it gets the attack off.
Additionally, I find it quite annoying how dodge for NPCs is 100% effective but far less effective for players. Doesn't matter where they are in the animation when you initiate the dodge, they'll just adjust to hit even when it is an ability that when the player uses it the player cannot reposition once the attack begins. Even more so annoying when it is arrows that'll curve wide around a wall to hit you then has a 100% stun-lock on landing (one of the tribe leaders does this, watching their arrows curve around walls to hit you is very annoying.)
