"consistently one of the best tribesmen you can get for the early part of the game"
and your point was "vagabond is only good for early game"
Also I didn't say they were the only ones who lose negative traits when leveling, all do that obviously yes. My point was they are MORE LIKELY to lose negative traits when leveling and not gain new negative traits. Or did you not know you can get negative traits sometimes when you level?
Again, read slower and don't make the same points as the OP while thinking you're saying something more knowledgeable
I don't know why someone put a jester on this, but OP is right though; the original post did mention early game, and the quoted comment did seem like he missed the point.
Back on topic - I lost my Vagabond tribesman really early, and I thought nothing of it since I was thinking I can get better ones. Well, I DID get better ones eventually, but there's no other Vagabonds I can find anywhere (it was all Barbarian, X Tribe Barbarian, Invader, etc.).
No more Vagabonds. It was one of a kind.
Not an issue missing out on it.
Unless they've changed something with the last 2 patches this month, Vagabond absolutely gains new traits, sounds like you had rough RNG. In my last game before this week's patch mine had 2 good and 1 negative trait. The negative trait dropped off at level 25 and then I got another positive trait at level 30 which was the 30hp heal 25% chance dealing damage.
Now I will say, the RNG of the game with traits from leveling is kinda stupid. You should get Advantage/Disadvantage traits as you level based on what you do with the character.
For example, I was purely using the Spear on a Tribesman and had the skill above 90 but then the next trait I got was for Bows...
