Mask drops in the plunderer rainforest fort random?

So I've run through and killed everyone there 6 times now. I now have 6 extra RICH masks (started with one)
Is it NOT a random mask that drops?

Random and really bad luck. Only the 3 starter masks drop from that Plunderer boss. It is just like playing a game with a 95% hit chance against an enemy and missing them 10 times.

I was pretty sure I had heard it's random. Yeah, RNGesus is not on my side with this. Thanks! I suppose I'll keep trying and will update this later.

Finally got a different mask. Civilization dropped. I guess the others can be scrapped as I imagine having multiples serves no purpose. Thanks again for everyone's help

It is random, but you can tell if they will drop a different mask. For me, each mask had a different body. Two were male and one was female.

I have looted 2 of the three starter masks there so far. I have only sacked the leader twice. I've been taking my time training because the first few times I attempted exploring those ruins, I got spanked hard.

They can drop any of the 3 starter masks. If you look closely they wear the one they are going to drop.
