In every survival game i play, Ark, Conan, 7days, etc.
I find a personal private server to be my best option.
I am not very sociable, i am not a fan of most online players as they tend to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
I enjoy playing mostly alone and with friends i know.
Also this way it's set up they way i like and i can change the rules on my whim even though it's pretty much a default normal set up except i have remodeling updatable and loot on death follows to respawn.
/EDIT/ you can test this for yourself if you don't believe me, try playing without granting any new stat points to your stats. Just grind the skills and assign the level 30 trait for the skill. Don't update your mask. Game play is pretty easy still.
Are on PvP servers all tribes of a different player instantly hostile towards you?
1) nope, unless it's falling apart because you didn't fuel your bonfire.
2) yes, pretty much, fun times.
There certainly are griefers in pve servers. From people exploiting mechanics to destroy some of your stuff to people walling you in and so on. Join on your own risk.
My group just swapped from an official pvp to a private moderated pve with pvp events for 2 reasons:
- some of us don’t have the time for the sort of massive xp grind and enjoy higher xp rates
- pvp (if not “moderated”) makes the game exhausting. I do love pvp, but in this game I enjoy building a village not having to worry that people kill my workers and stuff like that. PvP will be done in event-like scenarios which is enough for me in this game.
Highlight would be: NO WIPE EVER!
I think 10€ and I should have one for a month. This is more than my coffee break at Starbucks everyday! ;)
And who knows if in 1 month from now I am still playing this game.
Not really PvP though, that, is it. People need to expand, wipe out rival bases and take the good locations for themselves. Anyway, on Official PvP your base is 100% safe 22 hours out of the day - what more do PvP players want? It's getting pretty close to Carebear PvP as it is - any more handholding and people may as well not bother with PvP at all.
Thats how V Rising Pvp works too and its fine. Not everyone has time to be online 24/7.
If you have a certain timeframe, be it 4hours a day, where your base can be attacked, then that's also good. Just not something for my taste.
I don't want to start over anymore. Those days when I had more than enough time as gamer are long gone.
If you get older one day you will maybe also think that way. I def did not think that way when I was still young and wanted to PvP 24/7! ;)
I fully agree with you regarding the official servers and how the default for pvp should be.
I feel like this is the first game where we’ve decided to switch from pvp to a more chill environment, simply because some of us have very little time right now and others have also decided they don’t want to fully commit.
