Also, for the comfort level you can solve the small footprint issue by building floors below and above where the bonfire is. The middle floor can be only bonfire, seating and decorations, then put crafting below and cooking above.
Thanks for the link. I'm trying to do it without too much outside help but if I get desperate I will take a look at that link. I'm still finding the tech points here and there as I explore.
The suggestion to build floors is a really good one. That's exactly what I did this morning, I built a 2nd and 3rd floor. The 2nd floor is basically a walk around platform and all the heads are up there. I didn't think about doing a level below though, that's something i would have to do in the initial design but thank you so much for the idea. It got me thinking...
The base area stays the same. As your base gets bigger, it will burn through fuel quicker. I only get 26 hours with 5 stacks of charcoal. The purpose of higher tier bonfire is that you can burn better fuel. Bronze allows you charcoal. Iron allows you coal.
Not sure what steel and fine steel bonfire allow you to burn as not got there yet. Is there better fuel than coal?
