Is the Ironblood Guard mask bugged?

So it says as it's special ability it reflects 20% damage back to it's attacker. But when I attack an elite outside of the level 60 dungeon in the snow area, every time I hit him MY health goes down.

Usually I solo him no problem. The only difference is I took a tribesmate for extra fire power and I just unlocked the special ability for this mask. I wanted to take it for a spin and see how it went. Well I was incapped 4 or 5 times before I realized every time I damage him I take damage.

Or does this elite have a special ability or something?

Update: I went back solo and destroyed that boss. Not sure what changed other than I didn't take my tribemate. Going to experiment more with it. It does seem like I am taking more damage though.

tribesmen count as players which make enemies scale. also there is a special trait that does damage reflect.

Update: I took a different tribesman today and no problems. I did use a different mask though, so maybe that was the difference.
