So far I'm enjoying the game. I'm the type to play a game mostly by myself, and recent titles like Aska and Soulmask is right up my alley, as even though I loved Valheim, I always find that type of game lacking as there's no NPC interaction. And it feels rather lonely in a game like Ark even though you have all your dino friends.

However, the mining seems kinda finicky as it doesn't seem like there's a working solution to fully automate this process. I managed to build an excavation pit close by a tin location, and the tribesman was actually able to reach the tin nodes right outside the entrances. Then there's the following problem, as you can't automate the process of another tribesman bringing it all back to the base. Also had to allocate another tribesman as a guard along with the miner as he kept getting attacked by the other tribes, which I'm also assuming I'd have to do with a potential runner.

Now, I recently managed to nab me a couple of llamas but they seem to vary extremely in size, why is that? So my idea is to get a cargo train of llamas to fill up which would make it more exciting to go on an expedition to mine.

Or are there places where small nodes of i.e. copper/tin or iron/coal can appear naturally close by each other (like, not the pits/mines that appear on the map)?

The further you explore, the more will be revealed. Basically yes. There are clusters here and there although be it in some of the most unsavory of locations. I really with there was a way to set up trade routes. It would wipe other games out of the water if they implemented such a feat.

So Llama's actually vary in size due to the "rarity" white, green, blue, purple, and red (the rarest). Once you unlock the Q skill on your mask (Quality Assessment) you can pick and choose which one you actually want to tame then.
