The fish trap will not work if there are not nearby fish, so not all water sources work for fish traps

You can use fresh meat to capture pirahna for taming and adding to your priahna pool or other bait = little fish just for killing and cutting up

But if you bait gets nothing withing 20 mins, that water source has no fish and move the trap to another source

I put out five fish traps in one of the lakes that has piranha and that is in the noob area, the one just a little SE of the first barbarian barracks. After it caught two piranha in each trap I hauled the male and female pair back to our base, but released the other captures back into the lake.

I almost feel bad for the next person that thinks it would be safe to shortcut through the water....

Any meat, and close to piranha. Use your life scan.

Also if it's for your fish pool for breeding, any 2 captured piranha will do, even 2 females...

amusingly, the trap doesn't require bait....bait merely makes idling nearby fish move to the trap and when they contact it, they're caught.

Which means that if you place the trap relatively near piranhas, YOU are by far the most effective bait, since they will move with a lot more speed towards you than towards normal bait.

Dude thx! I couldn't get these to work. Using my own body as bait and the butcher knife worked. So basically if you have river base and worried piranha chase you can set these up make the most of their annoyances!

Just find a sea with piranhas set up a fish trap nearby get their aggro and stand inside the fish trap.
End of the story all aggroed piranhas will be inside the trap. No bait needed.

Beast blood works the best for me, especially if you don't want to spend you time staying in the fishing trap yourself. It does not decay and you get plenty of it during you hunting sessions.

This is so funny. I found this thread because I was like "why aren't they staying in the trap..." just to follow these instructions and watch them flop over. I guess they really can't resist all this. ;)
