How to use mimicry mode?
Does mimicry mode start using energy when you press C or when you press V? I have no clue why they use two different buttons for this ability and I'm not sure when my energy is getting depleted when using it. I glow pretty much all the time since I got the ability, so I can't really use that to tell I guess.
As a side note, it seems very under powered. I'm using the healing mimicry ability.

Mimicry need to be unlocked (kill the second boss)
Most also need yellow crystals to trigger it (your character changes looks as the mode actives) and will slowly drain energy over time.

If you have not killed the second boss or do not have the crystals, it will do nothing

And most mincry modes are not very good and only used on some bosses

First you need to defeat the FogFrog boss and unlock mimicry. C to activate, V while in mimicry to activate an active skill related to your mimicry.

Of course, you need to unlock the node(It's the bottom right corner node) in your mask tree to do so, mask interface module/bottom most branch. Y key to see.

Mouse over the various nodes to understand the effect of passive mimicry and the active skill if it has any. E.g DEF+5% , but when activate and in passive mimicry, DEF+5% doubles to DEF+10%.

Rogue, the game does *claim* you unlock mimicry mode by beating the fog frog boss, but that was not true for me. I was able to unlock mimicry mode for my starter mask the first time I found a blue crystal, i.e. immediately after beating the saber-tooth predator for the first time. I only had to unlock the furthest node to the right in the bottom section of mask upgrades. I was also able to turn the mode itself on/off without any problems.

you can unlock the node on mask b4 doing boss but can't use it till you do boss.
Not sure how you were able to use it i will admit though..should not have been able

They definitely need to add mimicry armor to the upcoming skin system mentioned in yesterday's dev blog.

Also got this problem. Activating the mode does nothing except draining energy. Looks like a feature to correct.

They have updated this feature since the OP posted this. When I have the infinity mask and activate it, my armor changes looks so I can tell it is activated. Haven't tried other masks. You don't say which mask you are trying to activate mimicry on.

I'd pretty much ignore everything in this post. Game keeps getting updates and anything over 6 months old is bound to not be correct now.
Agreed wildbill but I'd be more cynical and say six days. ☺
Just my 2cents for all: I changed the default, 'c', to another key as mimicry for me is more use it before a fight, not during and accidentally activating/deactivating the feature gets kinda expensive. With a couple converter things (name?) running, yellow crystals are fairly easy to get but it's a slow process but it beats visiting the labs where they can be found. That and do remember to turn mimicry off when no longer needed as, stupidly leaving it on, is my job.

Yes, I've pushed C quite a few times by accident too. I do have the mysterious converter, so I'm getting the yellow crystals from converting what the converter classifies as Ore. Although I'm just converting stuff mined near camp like flint and stone.

At 20th March the bug still worked. I found this topic trying to understand what's going on. Why does mask's energy constantly deplete?

The one which supposed to heal somehow in mimicry mode.

My understanding is that activating mimicry mode uses available energy to fuel(requires player to refuel as it drains) the abilities; so, when active, energy is draining. When not activated the abilities (some passive, one requires further activation (default 'v' key)) are not accessible. Seems simple to me and working as designed for all 5 masks I have so far.

The torch of Eternity? When you activate it, you see that you get a headdress. You also see that a V option in the lower right appears. The rest of what you see, the depleting energy is normal when in mimicry mode. When you cancel it, the headdress goes away. The V option goes away.

There is no bug here. It is working as intended. You simply need to cancel mimicry the same way you activated it to stop the energy drain. If you want to see what it does, press Y and read what it does. None of the mimicry modes that I've tried all all that great. There is one mask that makes you invisible. That seems somewhat useful. The torch of infinity only slightly improves your stats and you may not die, but you will certainly end up in the feign death state even with it activated.

I'm not normally nit-picky and I realize we have an international crowd here so translations might vary; but just to help reduce levels of confusion with the game, it's Torch of Eternity. My favorite mask so far and it's feign-death feature is awesome.

Ya, no problem. Brain fart on my part :steamhappy:

I fixed the "typo".
