I can't find any fireflies

I'm looking for fireflies... they're supposed to be found at the lake in the evening. My base is at a lake... no fireflies to be seen... I run through the jungle to other lakes... No fireflies... not even at rivers... is there anything I need to watch out for? I also have catching net...

They spawn at 20:00. They don't spawn when raining.

but if they spawn at 8pm, they stay for a few hours, right? That means if I set out at midnight, they should be found.. I'm out for hours at night and can't find anything.. and it's not raining either.. You should be able to see them from "far away", right?
