Bug: Tamed monkey stuck underground.

Somehow one of my tamed monkeys got stuck underground. I've reset the server, built a foundation with stairs underground and a nest to "summon monkeys" but nothing has worked. It pops it's head up for a second then goes right back underground.
What are my options?

kill it, or did u go to the tree trunk and call them all, monkeys do take a spot on the mounts 10 max, so if u got 10 monkeys u can`t get a mount, if u can click it when u see it, then u can slap it on your shoulder, i got 1 unstuck once

Tried "summon monkeys" it pops its head up for a split second but is still not clickable. Therefore I cannot interact with it in any way. Unable to kill etc. Even tried switching to Admin and spawning aggressive mobs hoping they would attack it. Nothing...
