anyone actually kill a tortoise yet?

tried poison/bleed weapons to try kill it and the thing just goes into its shell and heals it all and the dots don't apply when its in that state also so its kinda invincible even had two friends come try kill it same outcome

wait there are sharks lol i have been swimming in the ocean multiple times like to get around the coasts ahahahaha never seen one now i am going to look
reason why i am wondering about the tortoises is because to get top hunter you need 15 different animal kills and the game doesn't always record the kills correctly i have killed like 15 to 20 eagles never gotten the gallery entry same monkeys, alligators and elite jags still not recorded i have got 13 atm so i was looking for other alternatives
with the addition to the sharks it should record monkeys, elite tortoise plus normal and elite jags, alligators and eagles oh and there is a an elite alligator also but couldn't find it around its den possibly got killed when i was there but that should be 21 animals in this demo to kill

there are sharks indeed. i saw a great white and scared the hell out of me

Level 35 elite turtle, thing had tons of health, have to get it's resilience down to 0 at about 35% health before it goes into heal mode and time a double hit with a charged hammerblow.

Turtles are also the only way I found to do the achievement to unlock Top Hunter.

Top Hunter you need a level 30 or above purple enemy. Took me a while to find a purple though because exceeding doesn't work, it has to be exactly purple, yellow or red wont do it.

oh ok so maybe that's the prerequisite for all of them needs to be purple and a 30 tyvm for the info i will just start trying to find them with those specifics and see if it counts it

The first 2 hunting ranks require a level 10 green and a level 20 blue.

How do I unlock "top hunter" to be able to remove the heads of Elite animals? I can't find anything online or in the game that explains.

I believe you press 'K' while in game and it should pop up your hunter rank info. Hovering your mouse over each ranks image will show the buffs and requirements of that rank.

Beginner Hunter: Unlock 5 Creatures in Gallery and Achieve Trip Milestone - 1 in 10

Elite: Unlock 10 Creatures in Gallery and Achieve Trip Milestone - Fine Pelt

Top: Unlock 15 Creatures in Gallery and Achieve Trip Milestone - An experienced and calculating marksman

Master: Unlock 20 Creatures in Gallery and Achieve Trip Milestone - Uncommon Loot, as well as Achieve Trip Milestone - Beneath the Claws
