Respawned, but not as intended...

I meant to respawn at the character that was deployed with me instead of respawning as them. is my original character just gone now? i cant figure out how to get them back or is that character lost forever just because i clicked on an npc to respawn?

Eventually you can acquire a table that'll allow you to directly spawn the starter character, until then the process is a 'bit' annoying.

You can either switch to a follower you don't like or deter a new follower, kill them by either selecting respawn or finding something to kill you, then select either a bonfire, campfire, or default spawn point to spawn at (which will be as the start character.)
If you want to be at the spot the other character is then drop a campfire there before killing the follower you don't care about losing.

Getting the table and the required upgrade is the last thing we can do in the demo. The structure we build from the parts that we find in that area can't be used in the demo. However, I would suggest bringing a tribesman or mount to that area since the table and upgrade are heavy.
